    Outside temp reading

Might be a dodgy sensor or connection to it, only way to find out is to get a look at it and go from there. Having the front bumper off is no big deal and pretty easy compared to most cars, 2 bolts to remove from under the bumperette pokey out things and then 2 clips to release either side of...

Dead Cubby console in P38; windows, mirrors, sunroof.!!

I think you will find you just have a dead window switch pack and a drivers door lock/latch that is on its way out, well, the microswitch that lets the vehicle know when the door is open is dying at the very least. People seem quick to blame the BeCM these days  -Wills :)

55 quid for someone to plug a laptop in??

Are you just wanting the HeVAC codes read?? If the HeVAC is your only problem then some simple troubleshooting might be able to avoid the code read. Blowers not running at all - have you checked the relays for them under the bonnet, coolant can get spilt in the fuse box and corrode the...

    Poor cold starting 2.5DSE

Just to add, with the diesel P38's its perfectly normal for the temp gauge to not reach half way on cold days - so I wouldn't worry about that. It might be a good idea to have it hooked upto a proper diagnostic machine that is designed for the P38, like a Autologic/Rovacom and see what codes...

    Glow plug change ..p38

Never done the glow plugs myself, my specialist did mine last time but I believe it is possible to do them without removing the high pressure pipes or the inlet manifold. Im sure that I have read about other on here doing it that way. Personally if I was going to do them I would have the inlet...

Dead Cubby console in P38; windows, mirrors, sunroof.!!

Very common fault, the switch panel itself is shagged, replace with a new one or get one from a breakers that you know works. Might be good to avoid eBay for something like this as people tend to put their broken ones on there. -Wills :)

    Pro Diagnostic

It is too good to be true, well, for a P38 anyway, the P38 uses OBDII codes for engine problems but thats it. It wont allow you access to the EAS, HeVAC, SRS, ABS, BeCM etc etc. If you really want diagnostic software for your P38 then consider something like a Faultmate - I got one for Xmas...

Help needed on non starting P38 DSE

ok, first problem here is the indicators - if they were on constantly like you say you have the beginnings of possible BeCM failure. Has anything been spilt into the BeCM or similar, is there any obvious corrosion around it or its plugs?? The BeCM is the main 'brain' of the vehicle which sits...

Need some advice on heated seats and general heating

Heated seats are a common failure item, usually the bottom element has a damaged wire and that causes them not to work, not too difficult to replace, see rangerovers.net for instructions on how to sort it. Cold on the passenger side will be the blend motors, again see rangerovers.net. You can...

    P38 electrical calamity!

I have to agree with gav and lan, it will be your alternator or battery or possibly both as a dying alternator will kill an ok battery pretty quickly. Get a multi meter out and test out the voltage of the battery and what the alternator is putting out when running. See RangeRovers.net &bull...

    p38 keeps changing down gear

Starting Problems on my P38 DSE

IIRC the correct diameter pipe is (Internally) 3.2mm. However my local car place only had 3.0mm stuff so I bought 2 meters (you don't need that much but good to have some spare for the future) of it and cut it to length myself. The 3.0mm stuff seems fine and I have had no ill effects or...

Starting Problems on my P38 DSE

Have the top cover fiisher thingy ma bob off the engine and have a look at each injector. If any of them look 'wet' then you have leaking leak-off pipes. When the pipes are beginning to degrade they also seem to appear 'wet' with diesel as well. See what you find, also check the pipe going...
