    Auto Selector problem

Cheers... I'll have a look tomorrow... The whole scenario is the dipstick tube was weeping at the sump connection spiggot... in fact trying to remove the tube caused massive failure at the sump... so sump off and spiggot welded back on... No leak, however sump had to be replaced with tube...

    Auto Selector problem

Ok, Cheers James... I can't see how it moved, I only took the sump off... could I have shifted it by accident?

Park is not park, R is Neutral, N is Drive etc... there must be some adjustment but my manual says it's a main dealer job... I think it's lying! please help! I've not touched anything other than the...

why would anyone want to? an early Series or RRC I could understand, but a Disco? surely it'd be like painting the Severn Bridge. lol

Cam belt gone after only 45k

He did say they wouldn't straighten... had 8 new pushrods and GKN timing gear and belt.

Cam belt gone after only 45k

Final update... Have Ruby back now... there was a leak from injector pump, however we now suspect it was leaking down side of front casing where last joker to do cam belt (and I know who he is... and it wasn't me!) only used half a gasket! so my biodiesel (which eats rubber belts) was probably...

Cam belt gone after only 45k

Found out today... injection pump leaking into belt casing... biodiesel eats rubber belts... hence premature failure!

Cam belt gone after only 45k

Ruby is an auto, so full on crunching to the death! I'm assuming it's bent rods, Bro in law says he can straighten them if not too bad... I'd love to do the job but don't have the time!

    Off road campers

They only sell plastic plates in camping shops because they know that yer missus and kids hate camping and will eventually get so fed up with living in a cow field in the p*ssing rain that they will crack you round the head with a dinner plate!

    mpg full tank or not

I wouldn't say that was all that good... I've done over 550 miles on a full tank in Ruby (mostly 70mph) and she's an old 200TDi (auto). maybe your fuel light comes on a little early... did you fill up again after to get a true fuel useage?
  17. Andy200TDi

    diesel in the engine oil

Does it take a lot of turns to fire up? this could cause an excess of unburned fuel into the pots which could seep past rings into sump.
  18. Andy200TDi

    mpg full tank or not

... leaving all pasengers at home is more fuel efficient and makes the journey much quieter and nicer. :D
  19. Andy200TDi

    diesel in the engine oil

Are you sure the leak is engine oil and not gearbox or steering fluid?

Any problems running biodiesel on P38??

If it's the BMW engine... it'll be a bosh lift pump... it'll be fine.
