    Gearbox oil change

MTF94 oil for gearbox (best place to get it is a land rover dealer - same price, no postage - around £28 for a 5 litre - capacity is 2.5L ) EP75/90 for transfer box & diffs As mentioned, you need a 32mm ring spanner for gearbox drain, and a torx 55 You can't get a normal 32mm socket on...

    Sidelights in indicators, why?? (D2)

The worse cars for this imhpo are the VW's. Some have indicators inside the headlight assy, and inside the rear stop/tail light - I can't see them...!

    Sidelights in indicators, why?? (D2)

My other car - Volvo xc70 gen 3 - also has led's in the indicators which come on with the sidelights... (my daytime running lights are switched off) I quite like it. A bit of extra visibility, and a backup in case one breaks (same as having a 2nd tail light bulb in the rear cluster)?

Cost of replacing Dual Mass Flywheel

Neil - where are you based? I'm sure my local independant dealer would give a better price..? I'm Edinburgh, and my local "indie" is Edinburgh. May be worth a call if you're not miles away... Land Rover Range Rover Edinburgh Specialists White's Auto Services Incidentally, my Disco's done...

Cost of replacing Dual Mass Flywheel

Sounds like a problem I had http://www.landyzone.co.uk/lz/f8/td5-clutch-judder-52576.html The dual mass flywheel may have play. Cost me just over £500 (overall bill £780 but had lots of things done at the same time), that included a new clutch (may as well replace that whilst you're in there)

    Tyre problem

Last year, all 4 of my tyres were going down slowly. See thread http://www.landyzone.co.uk/lz/f8/tyre-pressure-drop-porous-rims-67312.html Tried re-seating on cleaned rims (the tyre fitter put sealant on the rims before refitting the tyres). Was a temproary repair - helped a bit but still...

    Front cailper bracket

I would suggest if the bracket is damaged, then you will need a new one. The front caliper carriers (Part # STC1917) are over £100 as a new part!!!!! Once it's off you could look at getting it re-threaded in some way, but personally I would buy a new one, and not risk any problems... I'm...

    fuel...

In this post, the subject was done to death: http://www.landyzone.co.uk/lz/f7/cooking-oil-td5-80487-6.html We all draw our own conclusions. Personally, I often use clean old oil (from oil changes in the family's cars and motorbikes). I dilute heavily (around 1 litre per tank). IMHO my...

    Wheel Studs

TAY10060 is the front hub and TAY10050 is the rear hub. I had 3 hubs replaced over the last 8 years (2 because of worn bearings and 1 because of failed ABS sensor) - but I didn't keep the old one! I don't believe you can buy the studs seperately. My suggestion is that the only chance...

Evo II semi synth gearbox oil

A few people on here and other forums swear by this oil (in gearbox, not in transfer or diffs - they use EP 75w90). MTF94 is around £28 for 5 litres (which'll almost change your gearbox twice, it's around 2.6 litres to fill - but I just got 2 changes out of 5 litres of MTF). The EVO11 was...

    rub strips

    disco td5 ace ?

It varied year-on-year. In 2002: S didn't have ACE GS 5-seat did have ACE (but was cool-sprung) GS 7-seat didn't have ACE (but was air sprung) higher-spec models did have ACE IMHO - OK (and a real advantage) for air sprung vehicles, waste of time on coil-sprung vehicles... If you...

    gearbox oil

Interesting! If the difflock oils saved 10% of fuel... Assuming 20000 miles between drivechain oil changes... At 30 mpg, you would use ~666 gallons to do 20000 miles (around 30 tanks of fuel). Saving 10% on all that fuel would save you the cost of 3 tanks of fuel... Well worth the...

    gearbox oil

MTF 94 is recommended by Land Rover. Some people use different ouls, or ATF. However that can cause sticking between 1st and 2nd gear when cold. It's a LR advisory and recommends MTF94 for all later gearboxes

    Disco TD5 With ACE

Calo30 - I had this, and it was the "upper accelerometer" which is the stability sensor in the plastic pod above the rear-view-mirriw (i.e. where the front sunroof winder/switch is). It was around £40 for a new one, but you have to be careful fitting them. There's also a lower...

    gearbox oil

The Land Rover part codes are: STC 9157 for 5 litre STC 9158 for 1 litre I have found that you may be easier just nipping down your local LR dealer and buying it there - it's around £28 for the 5 litre... With a 5 litre can you can just about get 2 oil changes for a R380 box... I...

Who on this forum pays the least for insurance?

Was £340 but that was fully comp with business-use, and 24k miles/year. Last year I got a new day-to-day car, and use the Disco less - now £94 tpft.

    ACE removal/repair

Yes, Gemm (Falkirk area) do ACE removal as a service - see here: index There's full info on ACE here: ACE - Active Cornering Enhancement I had mine removed. Really good results if you have coil sprung rear suspension - not so good if you have airbag suspension (more body roll in corners)

    A.C.E Block!

They can be replaced by the home mechanic, but it's apparently a fiddle. The system uses high pressure, so you need to be careful. oeiginal LR pipes are very expensive. I had this problem last year, and removed the ACE system completely. If you have coil springs (i.e. not airbags) you will...
