    TD5 Starting Problem

Thanks all. CharseY was indeed correct. My local Indie fitted new Injector Seat Washers. Starts first time again now. Only collected it last (11pm) night so not done a longer run yet, but it certainly seems to have fixed the immediate problem. The fuel pump's priming noise now also...

    Electric? Cruise control

Yup, bought the kit, fitted it, works great! A good upgrade. Really handy on long motorway/A-road journeys... It does "hunt" a bit on gentle downward slopes - but it does work fine overall.

your thoughts on this wheel bearing?

Just had a look around. I have already replaced two TAY100060 front wheel bearings (at about 94,000 miles), and also one of the rear bearings (one rear bearing is still original at 174k miles). I'll bet I'm not far off another expensive wheel bearing soon! There's a lot of the LR parts...

    Discovery 2 Tailgate Lock

Thanks all for your advice. I thought I would post the "closure" for others wanting help. I bought the FQR100570 lock off ebay, a brand new genuine part approx. £77 delivered. I undid the screw from the back of the inside-door-handle surround, and prized-off the interior door panel. It's...

    TD5 Starting Problem

The fuel pump has been noisy since it was replaced about a year ago. The car's often in Aviemore - we've had minus 18 up there - and it REALLY whines then! It doesn't seem to have got any noisier over the last 3 days since it became a bad-starter... I replaced the fuel filter about 3-4 months...

    TD5 Starting Problem

Firstly a big THANKS to those who have offered advice. OK. Just had a good look over. No sign of Diesel leak anywhere. Checked the tank, fuel filter area, and taken the acoustic engine cover off. Cleaned the area around the Fuel Pressure Regulator, and can't see any leaks. Wasn't...

    TD5 Starting Problem

Thanks for the input gents. As soon as it's light enough I'll go and do some research on the drive and report back. I can hear the fuel pump, but mine's always been noisy since it was replaced about a year ago (especially when it's minus 16). There are no immediate signs of a fuel leak (I...

    TD5 Starting Problem

I need some help guys. Donre a search, but it seems a different issue to others on here. (This is closest http://www.landyzone.co.uk/lz/f8/starting-problem-125977.html but no resolution is given) Disco2, TD5, 174k miles, owned by me from new. Regular service (last fuel filter was about 3k...

    2-Stroke as an additve

Yes, my findings as well. I tried it a while back. If you've not seen it, have a look here http://www.landyzone.co.uk/lz/f7/cooking-oil-td5-80487-6.html Only thing for me was that the 2 stroke was a fiver, and it only saved a couple of litres/tank...i.e. the economies didn't work out...

    Difflock Evo 1 gearbox

IMHO, the MTF94 is a pretty good oil anyway, and the pricing is almost sensible: STC9158 is the Land Rover part # for 1 litre, STC9157 is the part # for 5 litre...

    disco 2 front fogs

EEeek! £80 for a light you can (legally/morally) use for about 5 minutes per annum? (Highway Code rule 226 "You MUST use headlights when visibility is seriously reduced, generally when you cannot see for more than 100 metres (328 feet). You may also use front or rear fog lights but you MUST...

Missing Front Brake Disk Retaining Screw

Unlikely tobe an issue at all, lots of people don't bother replacing them when they change a disk. If you do want one, the part number is SF108201L You need a Size 4 bit to fit the SF108201L

    Brake Pipe replacement...

Copper pipe is supposed to last a lot longer than "normal". I had mine all done in copper, and the flexis done at the back as well. The independant dealer charged about £100 inc VAT. It was mid winter (as now!) and I can't get the Disco in the garage so wasn't going to take the job on...

    Bang / Thud when turning - TD5 Disco 2

Hmm - also sounds like is could be the Watts Linkage (doesn't the D2 have a Watts Link instead of an anti-roll bar on the rear?). Mine was like that, but most noticed on bumpy slow speed manouveres (and very loud off-road crawling in 1st or low ratio). If it's the central pivot that's worn...

    Discovery 2 Tailgate Lock

Can anyone help. Similar problem reported here http://www.landyzone.co.uk/lz/f8/discovery-tail-gate-lock-72099.html It's not the usual rear door problem with the D2. The door locks fine from the central locking (so I assume it's not the motor/wiring/fuse). But once the central locking...
