    whats a 4.6 hse 1996 worth???

170 000 miles. That's a lot. It's not just the engine which might be getting tired but it's everything else on and in the car that has done those miles too. Be very wary but having said that it might go on flawlessly for a long time or it might give you troubles from day one. I really hope it's...

4.0 P38 turns over for ages before starting!

A long cranking time when cold. Easier to start when hot and runs okay. I assume your P38 has a fuel filter [near the fuel tank?] and your symptoms sound like it is blocked? When did you change it last?

Thinking of swapping my series 3 for a range rover classic.

Just for an outside opinion. I'll second the vote for the LSE. I get the extremes of weather here - sub zero in winter and 40+ degrees C in summer. I use mine every day for both short and long bitumen distances as well as bush work and it is great. A big shopping trip is a return trip of around...

    Range Rover Classic

Mines a 94 Plymouth blue LSE. Brand new short engine in it with associated new bits, new fuel and power steer pumps and abs modulator. Also a new tranny viscous coupling along with all new steering joints, rear ball joint and radiator overhaul and all new under bonnet [every fluid] hoses. Just...

    Request for info

Correct Mud Flap. The Land Cruiser is more popular. A cheaper purchase price helps and many rural LC's are tray cabs, not the wagon. Also, most don't realise that parts prices for LC's and RR's are often similar and sometimes the RR is cheaper. Myth beats fact anytime. Paulm04 - yes, there are...

    Request for info

paulm I'm in Vic. Don't think there is anything official LR [or independant] in the western part of Victoria. May be one in Ballarat now. Plenty of independants in and around Melbourne though. What area of Victoria are you talking about? Some of the good independants also sell RRs and have top...

    cruise control disco 2 v8

Good on you Guinness. Terrific. Always the simple things, well, nearly always. After all, we are talking about Landrovers here though.

It's over the valley of the engine.

    disco 2 v8 criuse control

I'm assuming the Disco is a V8 and has the same system as my classic Rangie [I'm not in UK]. There is an ECU and it may be faulty. But under the bonnet there is a small vacuum pump and some black rubber hose. The pump rubber may also be perished. It's often the hoses that split, perish and leak...

    disco 2 v8 criuse control

Don't know what "still got a problem means", did I miss a post? But I reckon it will be an air leak somehere. Just keep on looking. Been battling with my Rangie and looking at other more esoteric causes as to it not working but it still came back to a small split in an air pipe.

EAS How is it supposed to work?

Sticking valve in the valve block perhaps, valve block "O" ring not sealing properly? Crook solenoid?

EAS How is it supposed to work?

If the car is only dropping at one corner and you have replaced that air bag with a new one then it must be an air lleak at the connection or in that lair ine. Checking with soapy water is not fool proof. Sometimes the rubber in a bag or line moves slightly and effects a temporary seal with...

STOLEN RANGE ROVER td6 SOLD ON EBAY????

If I knew how and lived there too I would email the local superintendent with this thread attached and ask why the police were not willing to respond in a timely manner.

STOLEN RANGE ROVER td6 SOLD ON EBAY????

Don't hesitate. Just dob him in, quickly. The police will soon establish bona fides.

    classic range rover suspension conversion

Conversion from air to coils. More to it than just these steel bits. You have to dismantle/deactivate the existing air system as well. Be cautious. This can be dangerous as high pressures are involved. If unsure then perhaps a specialist Landy work shop might be in order. Might cost a bit extra...

    Rust Free Classics.

Hi people. Whenever I see Rangies mentioned in the UK etc the subject of rust is almost essential viewing and a big turn off. :( Probably due to the damp salty air and salt on the roads. I'm an Aussie and rust in a Classic RR, Disco etc of any age is almost unheard of except for those few...

    Classic Headlight Problem

I was driving my Rangie LSE classic home last night using low beam. I activated the headlight washers and this caused the headlights to turn off. Let the washer arm go and back on comes the lights. Repeatedly. Switching to high beam saw them unaffected. Can anyone suggest what is happening please?

    blowers help

Sounds like a blend motor fault, they're known for it. A RR expert will diagnose correctly. Sadly if so it's a big dash out job to fix. If the dash does come out do your self a favour and replace the heater and 'o' rings while it's out. More expense but better than having to repull the dash in a...

    P38 Diesel misfire.

I seem to recall that the fuel lines from the tank run up and over the rear axle and are prone to corrosion here. if corroded they will allow air to enter and cause the misfire you speak about. Just a guess but worth a look I think.
