A 4'6 does 220+ in std form, stage 3 heads and a decent cam will easily take it to 300, I would image 360 isn't that hard to obtain. Me I am very happy with the 220, I can get 0-60 in sub 10, which for a vehicle the size of the DII is quite adequate.

Thanks for your responses, in-between building a cider press I have had a little play disconnected MAF, no difference checked on or two other bits no obvious problems so she is booked in Tuesday for a diagnostic. Bill

Benefits of de-erg are hit and miss, some people get a benefit, others say no difference, according to my mate who is an engineer there is no real reason why a properly functioning egr would take a noticeable amount of power from the wheels therefore the theory is that those that get a benefit...

It happens on lpg and petrol. No need to apologies anything it better than nothing and anyway if worse comes to worse the garage can have it back, just want to avoid that if I can.

Yep sounds almost the same as mine, same bill too although I did upgrade from 4.0 to 4.6. To be honest though 4 grand for an X seems a bit steep, only paid that for my 02 16 months ago.

To check your mpg brim the tank run it till the light comes on then brim it again divide the number of litres put in by 4.54 to get the number of gallons, divide the miles covered by gallons. Under 20 is pretty poor unless you are driving it like a racing car, I can match that in my V8.

I was told by an engineer that if the EGR is working properly then removing it or bypassing it will result in no noticeable change what so ever to performance and the fact that some people like yourselves report no improvement seems to bear that out.

My personal thoughts would be along the lines of if the fan made a noticeable difference the you would notice a difference when the fan was fully operational, I can't say I have.

An engineer friend of mine told me that removing a viscous fan would improve mpg but he doubts that in the real world it would be a particularly noticeable improvement and certainly not the 8-10% claimed by electric fan suppliers.

Have a look at the Stump Puller cam from real Steel, it was what I was recommended to fit in mine if uprating and I was told the clue is the name.

Not a problem it was £3450 fitted plus some other bits done so maybe £3250 without them, that was the price for a short engine, due to a colossal cockup I actually got a full engine which should have been another £350. Seems a lot but an 02 DII could cost 5 grand plus and mine is pretty straight...

Well I looked at all the options when my Discovery started playing up and ending up going for a replacement in the form of a top hat 4.6, transformed the old girl, 21% more power than the std DII 4.0 V8. and not only does it go well it's more economical too. You might be better with the V8...

I had a liner go in my 4.0 discovery and yes it was replacement time, stuck in a top hat 4.6 instead :D
