Thanks so much for advice chaps. Clever you mad hat man you were about 5mm from the prob. Cut in otherwise non-perished three way rubber hose at thermostat mounting, my brother found it. Suspect when local land rover dealer did glow plugs that they did that since pipe needs removed for the glow...

Well I can see steam coming from engine bay but with bonnet up can't tell where from, fan still not on when running for 30min stationary.

The engine, sadly, is steaming. Lost most of the water yesterday 40 mile trip. Can't see any obvious water leaks, am running it now and fan hasn't started yet, though should be warmed up, but temp gauge not moved from bottom either, could it be connected with fact it takes ages to warm up when...

My L series, same year, does the same thing, but in these below zero temps it drains the battery turning it over. When I have jump started it, it fires first time, no probs.

I've just bought one...also look out for sunroof leaking, oil leaks, power steering fluid leaks, rear diff knackered...somepeople on this site do talk about removing viscous coupling and shaft to improve fuel economy, get the seller to put it back on so you can test drive it properly?! Good luck.

I think that the fuel you get in most petrol stations is 5% biodiesel or ethanol now, without any mention of it. Government targets...
