Middle seat - bolting a child in.

Well the mounting holes for a lap belt should already be there! I'm fairly sure that that you can fit those seat belt bars designed for soft top models, even if you have a roof (I hope someone know abit more than me here !) also could but the litte one in the normal Seat and your lady in the...

    Bloody electrics confusing me!!

Get the owners manual!!!!! The a5 ish size one, it has full wiring diagrams in it, with wire colours !!! It wouldn't hurt to get some very fine sandpaper and take out each fuse and clean it till it's shiny, and also of course clean the carrier, and if I'm honnest, if you suspect a dodgy...

Safe to lift engine / gearbox using rear bracket only?

I don't know what it's called but there is a device you can buy for the engine crane, where you secure it to the engine at both ends, and hook it upto the crane, it's got a screw that you can turn to tilt the engine, which will spread the load. I belive the back lifting point is only 2 bolts...

Coney green offroad pay n play !Dont go

Was there an incident or something? Ive been and thought it was good, everyone friendly and helpful, I felt it was just right for my standard series 3, there were parts that I thought were too hard for my standard car, but lots of fun!

    Tyres

What engine? Also 6.50 is standard on 88s isn't it? On a standard diesel, I'm think 7.50 will increase the gearing too much

    Estimate of scrap value

I belive both the standard petrol and Diesel engines were 204kg? I think that's dry weight

    whats mpg 2286

I think generally its under 20 whatever you do, under 10 around town (dont quote ive not had one) and personally id want a 200tdi as my kinda reachable dream engine, a well sorted 2.25 is liveable with(my daily drive) (and mine isnt great) but a 2.5 na in good nick also seems a good engine, I...

    S III rebuild chassis advice

P=vi, I=p/v , I=2700/230, I =11.7amps, but the welder will have a transformer, how big is the welder, mine is a clarke 131 teor maybe 135, cant remenber, but id reckon my welder would run of that genny, also another thing, some gennies you can set the revs high, or to adapt to the load, you want...

88" series 1 restoration few questions

Why do you want a 2.25 if you have a v8? They have the same mpg, but guess which one has more power ! Also on the gearbox front, I think the series 3 are susposed to be easiest to drive(synchro on all gears) but they are usually accepted as not being reliabe, the 2a box only has synchro in 3 and...

    brake drum screws

If it's stuck and you have a welder, weld a nut on the head of the bolt, then with a spanner or impact wrench etc undo it (that's how they get wheel nuts off if someone has whacked the wheel nuts in with a gun)

    Series 3 Speedo speeds

Mine is about +2/-5 mph in accuracy, just get used to it I think is the easy answer (usually new cars are about -3mph I think) so not too bad really

    S III rebuild chassis advice

I think youd need a new rear 1/4 chassis the hole is above a suspension point, I may be wrong but even if you patch it, it maybe be so close that its a mot fail anyway, especially as patches arent as strong as what used to be there!

    Quick question - exhaust gaskets

I've just done mine, not you don't need any paste, tip for getting the old one off is an angle grinder, chances are if it's been on long enough to need replacement, the bolt head will be a rusty powder!

    series 3 with 2.5na conversion

Sorry if it's a thread jack! I have a series 3 2.25 diesel, which is tired and slow, I'm wondering how hard is the conversion, can I literally take the old one out, use the original radiator, engine mounts, fuel lines, electrics and all be ok? (I've heard some say move the battery tray, and one...
