There's not much that is when it comes to working on bits you've not worked on before. The important thing is, do you still have all your limbs, eyes etc? If you do, then its a good day. It wasn't such a good day for 1 of the drivers at the Speedway at Ruapuna here in Christchurch last night...

    L-Series Injectors & Glow Plugs

Trouble starting the L Series is usually the pump belt timing. That, and the timing wire off No1 injector.

Erm, you should have asked this question before you bought the car. Having bought it, really its your decision what you do now. You know what you want to end up with and you have the numbers. If you didn't know it needed all this work doing to it, how do you know car C isn't?

As I rapidly approach my 6th decade, I'm still very amazed how every day is still a school day. I think some are ****ed off that they don't know everything, maybe even think they do. But I love learning stuff. It may mean you still have/create grief for yourself, but finding stuff out is great :D

FL 2 Off road experience day ?

Doubt you will find anyone doing 4WD experiences in Freelander. They wouldn't have a very successful business. You'll need to find 1 that you can book to do the course in your motor. I haven't done 1 in a long while, but when I did, these guys were running fairly new cars - so they weren't...

I think my air con condenser might need replacing

Its what god invented super glue for. Oh, and the British weather.

To the best of my knowledge, you are correct, its plastic. If I really put my thinking cap on, there's plastic that can be recycled and plastic that can't - dunno why, maybe the stuff that can't is made from Russian oil. Not much help really, like I have been through your project, but I've...

Amber HDC lamp - won't go out.

It would presumably throw an implausible error code if both 1st and reverse were showing at the same time. Would manifest itself as soon as you engage reverse - unless its a sticky code and needs clearing.

What have you done to your Freelander today

Coffee is usually sufficient for me.... lots of coffee breaks :D

    Intercooler out lovely Sunday afternoon

I believe garages have 'sniffers' that can tell if it is combustion gas working its way round to the expansion bottle.

    Intercooler out lovely Sunday afternoon

If you have an issue with the oil cooler, this will mix oil into the coolant, not air.

    Intercooler out lovely Sunday afternoon

If you are getting bubbles coming through the coolant system, I presume it can only be gas being pushed into it (eg from the cylinders) of from air being sucked in. If there is a loose clip or small split in a hose on the low pressure side of the water pump, this could suck in air while not...

Amber HDC lamp - won't go out.

I'm not sure what the error, engaged and activated lights are - to know what your amber light means. If it's engaged, have you put a multimeter across the switch terminals to see if its still working OK?

    OIL/Auto trans oil cooler

That thread is totally irrelevant to your car. It relates to a '98 car with an L Series engine. The config changed in 2000 to the TD4 and I'm sure it will be very different.

    Freelander 1 SRS oddity

My first thoughts are whether the icarsoft can talk to the SRS and if it does whether it successfully connected to your SRS ECU. Sounds silly when you have your own diagnostic device, but I'd see if there was a garage willing to give you the codes on a no-win-(ie find any codes)-no-fee basis...

Maybe it might be quicker overall to learn a little more about coding Arduino than learning how to code the 'AI' ;)

I believe a popular insurer for modified vehicles used to be Adrian Flux... https://www.adrianflux.co.uk/ IIRC they used to be a sponsor on LZ. Can't help with the noise. Do you know all the donor parts were OK?

What have you done to your Freelander today

After fitting the Hifly Super2000's and getting the F1 through its WOF recheck, I took it for a blast last night after work out to Twilight Golf then home afterwards. 26km drive out on the open road and the car/tyres looked to be performing well.
