Defender Aerial - Rubber, Electric or Original?

I've got a rubber one (oooer) above the back door on my 90. No problems at all picking up all the usual stations (FM, not DAB)

Why are Defender Seats so expensive?

Have you considered recovering the ones you've got? I did mine with Exmoor Trim kits and I'm well pleased with the result.

    Seat belts in a 90 / 110

What type of seats do you have in the back? Unless they are forward-facing, you can't fit anything other than lap-belts. And there is no way on earth I'd use those with kids.

    Best size for exhaust?

The bigger (bore) the better, as far as performance goes. If you want it loud - don't fit one at all.

What have you done to your Landie today.

Walked past mine a couple of times - it's up on axle stands :(

Can anyone recommend a cheap and reliable mechanic around Guildford, Surrey?

What engine is in the Landy at the moment? And regarding the 300tdi - Disco and Defender engines are the same. There are differences between the 200tdi Disco and Defender engines, but there are a lot more scrap Discos out there than Defenders, so the engines tend to be a lot cheaper. I'd...

    Landy Cam

Got any pics of your latest work, Paul? Unless we're watching when you're "live" most of your progress goes undocumented! (I'm interested to see how the bumper turned out as it's still on my "to do" list)

    Spare wheel carrier

Just to throw my tuppence-worth into the mix. I took the carrier off the rear door and mounted it to the bonnet with no problems at all. I've got an early Ninety which has the stronger bonnet anyway, so it was just a case of drilling some holes and bolting it through. The rubber bungs which...

What have you done to your Landie today.

Tried to replace my front brake pads, but in the process discovered why my brakes have been so **** - both calipers are horribly corroded with seized pistons and rotten seals. That'll be another week off the road then :(

    Raptor dash... wash wipe? Gauges?

The white one is actually a red one (it just looks clear when it's off) - that flashes. There's a hidden switch under the driver's dash to turn it on - it's a pretend alarm :p The blue one is wired in parallel with the relay that powers my electric fan (on the radiator). I've got a thermostat...

Just bought a 1991 defender pick up

Would agree with the above. Disco rear axle is a common and popular upgrade - going to be doing mine at some point. I wouldn't worry too much about the noise from the exhaust - a sympathetic MOT place won't have a problem with it, as long as it doesn't leak and is securely attached to the...

    Raptor dash... wash wipe? Gauges?

It's a MUD console. They also sell the little badges to go in the oval space :) They didn't do the replacement rear wash/wipe switch when I fitted all my stuff - otherwise I'd have had one! As it is, I relocated the original switch onto the MUD console.

    Where to look around?

Don't know much about your neck of the woods, but I'd have thought a local independent Land Rover specialist would be a better bet. We've got one in this area who usually has plenty of 10 year old (ish) vehicles on display.

    awaiting result

Thought you were an ex-biker, Paul? You probably already know about castor and trail from the effect that fork angle and yoke offset has on the steering of a bike. The physics are the same, but have a far less dramatic effect on a four-wheeled vehicle than on a two-wheeled one, which also has...
