iIf its a new gasket, its not fitted properly you need to take the top & fit again if it has not been pinched out of shape. If so put a new one on

I had a problem just like yours once you get it running spray brake cleaner or the like at the carb body and if it tries to die probaly all or some of the gaskets it sits on are shot,so its sucking in to much air so just replace them it cured mine

keep an ear on it could be the in tank fuel pump starting to get noisy

dont fit britpart they dont last long !! suprise suprise. Take the flange off and make sure the side of the locknut has been burred over to lock off . If it has go one step further unlock it see if it will pinch uo not to tight though, if you have the kit torque it up probaly the safe way dont...

I think your ace pump has seized due to lack of lubrication wich has caused a major failure The red light she saw was probaly the ace warning light, ihave travelled in my defender td5 and had a sudden loss of power and i had not noticed it was getting hot so the ecu reduced the power saving me...
