You are all getting confused, if your vehicle is registered before March 2006 then it is only £295 for the year. I've just taxed my 02 90 TD5 as from today and only paid £295!
I wouldn't use the wire going to the CB, only because it is always better to have the CB wired completely separate from anything else, this leaves less chance of interference through the CB!
I've upgraded mine with the Wipac set, works well. So what if they are bright, quite a lot of cars are built with them now and they are just as bright!
