    MAP sensor

I just used carburetor cleaner. When I got my first Rangie the MAF mesh had a dead wasp and some bits of leaves in it. Cleaning it didn't appear to make a whole lotta difference but at least I know its clean.

    Tailgate hinge cover.

One of mine has the same problem. Never really thought about it long enough to realise it was a problem. It was just annoying. This will be first job on the list tomorrow.:D

    Front door locks

You could be right on all accounts. It could also be the fuses for the door outstations. I am not sure which is the most likely but the cause most discussed on the forum is the lock motors burning out due to a faulty / old style RF receiver. If the door lock mechanism is in good shape you can...

    Finished the head gaskets but......

Take the plug out and put your thumb over the hole. When the piston is on the firing stroke you will feel compression on your thumb.

    Any suggestions?

Come on you gotta give us more than that. What model is it. What do you think it is? Have you tried disconecting it and see what doesn't work any more?

    Engine Disabled

Is this the same problem you had last month? My guess is that you have an older RF receiver which is picking up stray signals to the point where it is swamped. When it happened before did you do anything to correct it other than following Mozz's advice?

    Alarm sounding for no reason

I had a similar issue with the alarm on the Cherokee. Turned fault was internal to the klaxon. New one sorted the problem.

    Heater only blows hot!!

That is certainly an option but maybe someone is close to you with some kit that would do it for beer tokens.

    Heater only blows hot!!

The constant hot air will most likely be a blend motor. For sure this will cause the book symbol to be displayed however it might not be the only thing. It is worth getting the faults read by someone with a Faultmate or Nanocom that way you know exactly what you are dealing with.

    Battery Drain Diagnosis

For ****s and giggles and also because I have nothing better to do today I measured the voltages on all 3 of my toys. 1999 V8 12.02v with engine off 13.8v with engine idling 13.8v with engine at 2000rpm 1997 V8 11.97v with engine off 13.67v with engine idling 13.67v with engine at 2000 rpm...

AC Condenser and Dryer change Walk Through.

When you run into trouble like this it is best to remove the bumper so you have better access. The bumper is held on by 2 screws and two clips and less than 15 mins effort.

    Replacing Door Lock Motors

Just some info really for those of you that need to replace your front door locks. Over the weekend I repaired my front door locks which had burnt out motors. I didnt fancy forking out the 2 x £130 for new locks so I set about trying to find a replacent motor. All searches failed - you can get...

    Hello!

:welcome2: Just remember the car is 15 years old. No doubt there will be things that should have been changed out months or years ago that havent. Your job over the next few weeks is to find them and correct them before they decide to pop up and ruin your weekend. Things to look for are worn...

    Transmission Noise / Banging

Check the bolts that hold the prop onto the parking brake hub. Mine were all loose although I didn't have the noise you described.

    P38 won't crank / turn over

Don't mix up your key fob loosing sync with the becm and the becm loosing sync with the ECU. These are two very different problems. Mozz's process is for the key fob. The only way to fix becm / ecu sync issues is with diagnostics.

    P38 won't crank / turn over

To be honest its worth spending the cash an buying one. The one I have is for a Thor engine so is no use to you or I would just post it. I think I paid about £80 quid for mine plus the shipping. Mind you the reason I don't have a syncmate for my Gems is that on the 3 occasions where it has given...

    P38 won't crank / turn over

When you turn on your ignition do you see the Check Engine light come up on the display? If not you have lost sync between the becm and Ecu. You will need a Syncmate or Nanocom to allows it to resync.

    P38 auto gearbox problem

Is this not one of these situations where you replace what you know is faulty and then see what symptoms are left over. Otherwise its like playing pin the tail on the donkey.

Radiator leak and damaged condenser - confused.....

Given that you reckon the front has had a Prang it may worth pulling the bumper off just so you can see any other possible damage. Removing the bumper is a quick and simple task. 2 bolts at the front and a clip at each side. disconnect the wires and breathers to the fogs and just lift it off...

    P38 emergency clacton

Its actually smoother on the motorway and you can manage 50mph with no real issues. Just take it slow on the minor roads. I drove mine from Windsor to Newark on the bumps a few years back without too much drama.
