    What 110 Variant for a Camper/Overlander?

There is no easy answer here. It really comes down to how much money you want to spend and what your actual goals are. Now I'm no camper expert or overlander. Although I do go camping and do go green laning. Price is obviously the biggest restriction. Do you have a budget? Tdi's are good...

    What 110 Variant for a Camper/Overlander?

That isn't the reason why the military stuck with the 300Tdi. Come on have you seen how complex a modern tank or any other army vehicle (or aircraft is)!! Being simple had no bearing on it. As I understand it, the Td5 passed all of the military testing bar the fact that it couldn't easily or...

    110 with Izizu 2.8 - Converting Back to 200tdi - What Mods?

A bit more work, but might be worth looking at a Td5 swap. But it will need some other changes, such as an R380 gearbox and a different input shaft on the transfer box. On the flip side lots of Td5 engines about and easier to get than a Tdi these days, you could also use a donor Disco 2 for many...

    110 with Izizu 2.8 - Converting Back to 200tdi - What Mods?

I think this depends. If you are building a concourse de elegance vehicle, I agree. Or if there is likely a large financial gain in terms of resale value. However, functionality and practicality are likely far more important for most people, most of the time. The old 2.5TD isn't a bad engine...

    110 with Izizu 2.8 - Converting Back to 200tdi - What Mods?

1987 would most likely have been a 19j 2.5TD, it could have been a 2.5NAD, but only special order or ex-mil. Or a V8. Therefore a 200Tdi would not have been the original engine. Technically it would also have been a One Ten rather than 110 and it will pre-date any Defender branding. A 2.5TD...

    110 with Izizu 2.8 - Converting Back to 200tdi - What Mods?

What vehicle is it in, any more details on age or gearbox. You say 200Tdi, but Phil says the kit is for an R380, the 200Tdi never had this. So an earlier Defender will be different, different gearbox and different seatbox, with the engine in a different location. Can't comment on the Izusu...

    750 R16??????????????

Hi Mike, not sure where you are seeing this. Suspect it is just a fault/bodge on some sites, as they only want to use one type of tyre sizing, e.g. Width/Profile/R/Rim These tyres should be 7.50 x 16 Meaning they are 7.5" wide, with what should be a 7.5" side wall on a 16" rim. This was once...

    D2 Transfer Box exploded?

Nope, I won with my 200Tdi, the V8 Comper very close 2nd. Td5's are lovely. Two in this race, the blue Disco is modded, don't know to what extent. And the CCV vehicle furthest away has loads of mods and a turbo of an M57. The 200Tdi surprises quite a few people. :D Although drag racing like...

    D2 Transfer Box exploded?

Driving like a dick with no mechanical sympathy will result in breaking stuff. :vb-poke-with-stick: But I daresay many of us have been there and done that. :) Many have pushed over 400hp through an LT230 for competition use. They are usually pretty strong. However you'd normally have them...

Maybe not, but people have been racing them for 60+ years!

    Fitting Britpart Cellular Dynamic Shocks

How did you know they were the wrong bushes? We have the Celluar Dynamic shocks on 3 vehicles currently. They seem a very good shocks for the money.

    Fitting Britpart Cellular Dynamic Shocks

Do you have a vice? If so, squish the bushes in the vice for a bit and they'll go straight on. Other options are to use a different bush, or you could cut the bushes down, but obviously cutting them down gives less bush, so may wear sooner. The ones supplied will go on and work.

Freelander 1 Extended brake lines for lift kits??

Disagree, it is not dramatic, it is a bit of tin. It really is odd they made the hole so small in the first place. And while it is unibody construction, I'm not sure you could call that bit a stressed member of the chassis. Your solution I would think would introduce more bump steer, which...

May be a first time rover owner! Need advice :)

To be fair, prices are silly even in the UK, just having a quick look on ebay and there are plenty in the £30-40k range.... which is nuts. Op - for reference in the UK you could get a much much newer model for way less money: About $18,000 USD. The trouble is, because the USA has a 25 year...

May be a first time rover owner! Need advice :)

Defenders are silly money in the USA. It isn't for me to say you shouldn't, it is your money. But in reality they probably aren't worth the money. When new they were a fairly cheap, very utility work truck. Prices have gone silly in the UK too, and frankly they aren't worth what people want for...

Range Rover Classic - 16" Tyre Sizing.

Is that a 6 wheel conversion? If so, I have no idea of clearances at the back, you'll have to just try and see and take measurements. I would say 285/75 is massive and way too big for an otherwise stock RRC. A 235/85 is likely to rub. Hence why the Camel ones ran the narrow 7.00 x 16, as it...

Range Rover Classic - 16" Tyre Sizing.

Did you take that photo in the 70s? As for tyre. What’s wrong with running stock sizes? Camel Trophy ones ran 7.00 x 16 and lots of people doing trials would have run 7.50 x 16 or even 235/85 but may need a bit of body massaging. Rim off set will also have a big impact. Would think a...

Disco 1 300tdi lost all power while driving

Low oil can cause longer term wear issues, but wouldn't normally cause an engine to splutter and cut out. I think it sounds like an air leak somewhere, which is when air gets into the fuel line by a worn/cracked pipe or loose fitting. If you start the engine (bonnet up), let it run for a min...
