    200TDi Eggsauce Options

After having a new crossmember fitted today (thanks Clive) it came to light my back box is well and truly shagged. For a 200TDi, what options are there for changing the exhaust without much modification, none if possible. Have been reading tonight and found various answers - use a 19J...

    200Tdi cold starting problem

I renewed the plugs on mine a few months back, I think maybe 1 if any of the old ones worked - still started every time but would really grumble when frosty. New plugs definitely made a difference, tis smoother and fires up quicker, used to 'surge' slightly when very cold as crank was turned by...

    Help Huge grumble very loud

They can do - or rather it can be easy to miss the signs of imminent failure. Seen a few posts on here of them locking up the whole wheel at speed  Sure you didn't drive over one of them rumble strips on the road? :D

    X-Defend Pedal Lock Fitting Help

Thanks :) No - didn't get any choices when ordering. Looks like I'll have to fit a TD5 release catch - annoying since I not long ago replaced it!

    X-Defend Pedal Lock Fitting Help

Ta, may try that. :) Does seem to be a bit limited seeing as it doesn't fit the new ones or TD5's with aircon either. :o

    X-Defend Pedal Lock Fitting Help

Thanks - hadn't thought of that. Any chance you could throw up a pic of how yours release is fitted? Not the first time I've heard a complaint about the hinge, don't know if it'd bother me or not but I think I'd prefer the peace of mind of the extra security at the rate they seem to disappear.

    X-Defend Pedal Lock Fitting Help

Anyone got any experience or ideas with fitting one of these on a 200TDi? Actual fitting is simple but the bonnet release is in the way: Does anyone have any ideas on how to move it? Don't just want to cut it off and not be able to fix it back on - how is it fixed on originally anyway?

    Bonnet wont open :(

Mine froze the other day, wouldn't budge when I pulled it, worked fine after a short drive so engine must have defrosted it. I replaced it not long ago because the old one took stupid effort to pull - cable was all kinked and chewed.

Free play on the clutch pedal

Might want to pop over to Introduce Yourself and let people know who you are, as your new. Other then that, this might be of help. Land Rover Owner • View topic - clutch pedal adjustment

    Recon LT77 'Stiff' into 4th

Happy new year all :) Had a recon LT77 (H suffix) from Ashcroft back in June, has been a fairly good box, I changed the oil in it a few months ago for some Difflock fully-synthetic stuff which made it a bit smoother, the ATF that came out was a bit darker and glittery then I expected for only...

    Changing diesel tank

Been so busy I still haven't had a chance to get the tank fitted! Just a quick one so I thought it not worth a new thread - new tank didn't come with any seals and I haven't been able to find out which ones I need. Does anyone know which seals are needed for a ESR2242 fuel tank? The one with...

Aye mine does that sometimes too :D

Is puff of black smoke a problem?

Pretty normal, when driving normally I can't see any but floor it and it'll kick up a big cloud and leave a trail like a red arrow (but black :D), they're not quite so refined as modern diesels with their computers that keep everything precise.

    Changing diesel tank

Thanks for your help guys, though I don't know when I'm going to get time to do it now as I was hoping it'd be delivered in time for doing it this weekend, bloody parcelforce. May end up doing it by torchlight

    Changing diesel tank

More refined tools will be used when fitting the new one, don't worry! Thanks for ya help. How does the sender unit come out? I didn't notice any screws/bolts so I presume it locks in?

    Play in prop and clunk..

A worn mainshaft will eventually need a replacement gearbox/rebuild to fix, depending on the severity of the wear some people get away with replacing old input gear with a newer cross-drilled one with new splines which will half the backlash. My gearbox was replaced a month ago due to worn...

    Changing diesel tank

Ordered a new side-mounted fuel tank for my 90 to replace the leaky one, should arrive soon and I need to get it fitted promptly. Is there anything tricky or important that needs to be taken care with when changing them over or is it simply a case of drain what's left in it, undo the pickup...
