What did you do with your Range Rover today

If the AC pipes are properly hot & cold, also check the Aspirator fan next to the clock, plus the Evaporator & Heater Core sensors. Evap sensor is pushed into the right side of the heater box near the bulkhead. Heater core sensor is clipped onto one of the coolant pipes. If blend motors are...

    Freelander 1 New-to-me FL1 TD4 2006 - smoke on startup and doesn't get up to temp

Try running it with the air filter cover removed. That way crankcase fumes cannot get in to the inlet. Also try running with disconnected EGR & intercooler hoses. That way you can eliminate turbo seals leaking. Basically your dividing the inlet path into sections to eliminate possible...

My crazy diff ratio change idea

You said you’ve been on this forum a while. Clearly you know it all so go else where please.

My crazy diff ratio change idea

Actually the "157,213 to 1" was simply based on the fact that no one on this forum seems to know the answer, and that is the number of forum members !! There was absolutely nothing in that post either negative or positive towards anyone, not even you.

    Sporadic starting .

Also check the fuel hoses on the high pressure pump, plus the pump itself for any signs of leaks. They are hard to see under the inlet manifold, so use a mirror & torch.
  7. pwood999

    Sporadic starting .

Yes the filters do get clogged up. A tired pump usually impacts drivability as well as starting. But you said you replaced it, so it should be ok. When parked uphill, turn the ignition on without starting until the glow plug light goes out. Then do it again, and after that try starting...

A new Freelander is coming, apparently.

Google AI finds a few different cars that used the same name !! This one is no different. I'm sure there's others?

I have asked the Mods for you.

My crazy diff ratio change idea

FYI, I stopped commenting about fuel once you made that clear. My other posts were about the energy required to keep the car moving. In principle agreeing with your theory about less engine wear, but the oil pressure question at lower RPM is still open. If it's sufficient then yes the...

    Freelander 1 New-to-me FL1 TD4 2006 - smoke on startup and doesn't get up to temp

Yes back-probed the connector, and did continuity tests on the wiring, plus checked voltages at the ECU end.

    Freelander 1 New-to-me FL1 TD4 2006 - smoke on startup and doesn't get up to temp

Having gone through similar recently, I suspect we have the same issue with injectors. In my case the low temp was solved with a new thermostat - PITA but done. Our 2004 FL1 was smokey all the time, so did all the following: Checked & cleaned all sensors. Tested & checked fuel rail sensor...

Proposal for documenting the official repair manual (discussion paper)

There's already a place for it. Yes it needs sanitizing to remove the non-informational posts, but most stuff it there.

P38A GEMS signal for ok to start.

Can't remember if you said you have a Nanocom or not ? If you do, then it should be easy do get the GEMS how you need it, before building the other vehicle.

In which order should I proceed for the repairs ??

That looks like the flywheel teeth for the starter ? Others may correct me, but in there should be clean & dry.

P38A GEMS signal for ok to start.

The AS10 is the alarm & fob decoder, etc for car that use it. It has to do the same job as the BECM does with GEMS. Looking at the Nanocom guide for it, it appears to have better accessibility to the features including the GEMS Immob code. If your widget is from Simon, it appears to do the...

P38 THOR V8 Air suspension schematics

Remember they tend to leak under the folds, so do the soapy water check at various heights. For the schrader valves, although I don't use them much, I did when rebuilding my engine a while back just raise & lower the car manually. One thing I found it was it was easier by putting a tee into...

P38A GEMS signal for ok to start.

Unfortunately the P38 Nanocom doesn't show the GEMS immobilisation code, so it's probaby gotta be a bench job. The Nanocom has the Lucas AS10 option for cars that use it, which appears to show the code, but it would need someone with an AS10 & Nanocom to confirm if it rolls & by what amount ...
