My auto seems to do about low 20's mpg which isn't great I agree. I wonder whether when I tweak the diesel pump it will improve. Probably not although it may just be a bit more fun to drive....or not. Thank god I have a Toyota Aygo as my daily run!!:)

To be fair to the poor chap tyres are a constant dilemma. I have Wrangler AT's which work well on road, and as I found recently, pretty well off road at Hawkstone. Its just the MT's look so chunky. Lol. Aesthetics over practicality, or is it budget that speaks? If there were a simple answer...
