    Wave Etiquette

I suspect a large fuel bill may be the only way to go. Have you considered knocking up a 1 to 1 scale model of a series 3 out of plywood to tow around with you? Should be lighter than a real S3 so cheaper on the old fuel but you'll still get the waves.

That sounds like a good wave and you are doing it right, very effective in the land rover. Not something I normally do on the bike cause the BMW and Merc owners that perform the said cut up manoeuvre are usually faster than my old leaky Triumph and can catch me up; not that I'm a chicken! I do...

    Wave Etiquette

Excellent thread, it has clarified a few things. I am well aware of the wave culture that exists on the road through my motorcycling experiences. There are a lot of similarities between the biking and LR etiquette, for example race rep bikers and freelander drivers, waving to a race rep is...

Strange letter from the DVLA - still no log book

Possibly. Not going into too much details on a public forum in case I decide to pursue this legally. Still thinking about my options at this stage.

Strange letter from the DVLA - still no log book

Too young for tax exempt; late nineties (the car, not me). Could be ringer or clone but the DVLA and myself can't find any evidence to support that. I think it was just a badly handled chassis swap - maybe a second hand chassis. Either way as far as I can tell it's legal, not marked as stolen...

Strange letter from the DVLA - still no log book

That's what I thought. Either it wasn't a brand new chassis or there were no receipts to support that. Something whacky must have gone on for the DVLA to get involved, just don't know what it is.

Strange letter from the DVLA - still no log book

Nothing of any significance apart from a replacement chassis.

Oh, another option. Option 1 - Get it tested and Q plated. Cost £1000ish for test and bits. Option 2 - Break it for parts and sell them on. Buy another. Loss'll be more that £1000 but no stress and no Q plate. Option 3 - Kill Him!!! Cost :censored: :censored: :censored:

smart arse - No I didn't to be honest. Take a look at the attachment, see if you can spot any:) To be serious the DVLA say it was a chassis replacement which was not handled correctly. IVA is the new SVA test I believe.

Strange letter from the DVLA - still no log book

I have at last heard back from the DVLA via a phone call and it’s not good. They wouldn’t officially tell me anything but I did manage to put words it to their mouth and they did then open up a bit. Apparently the previous owner made some changes to the vehicle and had it inspected...

Strange letter from the DVLA - still no log book

Bought a Defender at the start of the year and have been impatiently waiting for the V5. Just got a letter from the DVLA asking me to confirm the registration number and VIN before they can deal with registration certificate. The letter came from the "Central Casework Group" at the DVLA...

    New door locks

I have just spent an hour rebuilding a defender tailgate door lock barrel and I would say fit them. My tailgate lock never worked so I decided to take it apart, it looked like a previous owner removed all the lock pins / tumblers so any key would actually open the lock. I ordered a new door...

    Hi all,

Hi all, Just a few words to introduce myself, I’m Mike from the South Wales valleys. Recently bought a 20 year old Defender 90 with a 300 TDi for getting back and forth to work in the snow and more importantly, for fun:). I looked at all the options, Pajero, Freelander, Big Horn and so on...

The Big Debate - Britpart or S**tpart?

Hi all, I joined this forum just so I can cast my vote. I ordered a MTC6505 Lock barrel set from what I think is a respected supplier, I got Britpart kit. Well what can I say, looks reasonable quality until I look at the keys. At first I thought all the keys were blanks; maybe they just...
