Nice, I may be tempted to give it another go actually. I'll have to do some more research. The last time I had it apart I did notice a few loose bearings that I forgot about. Any idea what these would be from? Does the drive pinion have bearings in it? Maybe that's what needs replacing.

A bit embarrassed to ask this but how do I manually crank the engine over by hand? Just to keep it from seizing up whilst I strip it down to chassis. It's not running at the moment so I just want to be able to turn it over once a week. 86 defender 110 2.5 NA Thanks
