Weirdly it doesn't want to pull away. I done it once and there was a strange noise then the enginene stopped. I didn't want to try it a second time.

In order to run the engine I have to keep the clutch down. It seems to be in neutral and it feels like it might be going Into reverse and possibly a few other gears. I'm not sure it's going down into 2nd and 4th. Diff also seems to be stuck in neutral. 1986 110

I didn't realise their was a pre defender 90 or 110. Am I right in saying that their is a LR defender 110 as well as a LR 110? I've always refered to mine as a defender 110 but it's probably just a 110. I can't see the word "defender" on the log book. Mine is a 22.11.85 n/a diesel.

I've got a few small spots that need cutting out. They don't look too major at the moment but I would rather deal with it now whilst the tub is of the frame. What thickness sherry metal do I need and where is the best place to order it?

It started once before that for a couple of minutes. That's the second start after sitting from may last year. I do know their was an oil leak somewhere when I bought it from previous owner but they didn't say where.

86 110 N/A Finally have it running after changing the starter motor to a bearmach model, new battery (one that is technically under powered but will do for now) and cleaning up the earth contacts. Sweeping broom on the clutch pedal is to make the engine turn over with less friction. No idea...

My guess was for culling the deer, but surely that can be done from a passenger window.

Any guesses as to what the port hole on the roof is used for? I see it all the time aroud bushy park but never get the chance to ask about it.

Have you found any hacks or modifications to make a soft top more secure? Any good steering wheel lock recommendation? Immobilizer? Alarm? I was thinking earlier that a metal box bolted or welded to the tub would provide you with a good place to keep shopping bags and tools. Another idea was...

That hydraulic crimper looks useful. I might have to order one of those along with the cables. What's the best place to order connectors and wire? If I'm going this far I might as well make sure I'm getting good solid connectors.

Great stuff. Immgoing to replace the earth points on the battery and starter as well as the + lead. What would be the best cables to Go with? Hopefully with a new starter, battery and cables it should start nicely

Do you know which of the components use bearings? I did notice a loose bearing inside the casing last time I had it apart. Everything seemed to rotate smoothly but its probably worth me replacing anything that uses bearings.

I've just attached two photos. It doesn't really show a lot. I'll take it off the LR this eve and take a few more photos of the brushes and other components.
