Hahaha! I never thought of it that way. Fortunately, it doesn't have a sunroof and the rear windows are all blacked out with what seems to be about the darkest film available - you can only just about see out! I really wanted black anodised chequerplate (as I've got some elsewhere on the...

Good stuff Griff - well thought out, tidy and practical. The lashing eyes are a great idea so I'll have to sort some of those out to stop my boxes of ropes, shackles and strops from sliding all over the place

    Hi lift mounting?? Pics?

Courtesy of rebel4x4. I had a bit of a refit at the weekend as you can see in one of my other threads from this morning. Shiny stuff isn't for all I realise that but I like it!

    Hi lift mounting?? Pics?

I have mine mounted top rear of the bulkhead - you can see brackets with jack removed in the below pic. if you can't attach to this position, what about fabbing a couple of brackets so it can mount straight above the bulkhead i.e. behind the headrests?

Good advice - I did think of that and while I had the angle grinder out I used the wire brush head to give the metal strip a once over. It's fitted over the top of the rear edge of the chequerplate, just like how it was holding the carpet down which means no sharp chequerplate edge and minimal...

Cost me about £200 for a pre-cut kit from Rebel 4x4. I did read previous comments about it being cold in winter and noisy so that's been taken under advisement. Fortunately, I'm lucky enough to just have this as a weekend fun off-roader and it only does a few hundred miles a year so I can...

Right, first of all I realise not everyone likes chequerplate so I know I'm risking being flamed by those of you who object to anything shiny on a land rover. It's OK, I'm a big boy now, I can take it. The inside of the Beast was so dirty and smelly after years of abuse that I decided I was...

    Hindhead 11th July

Looks good guys - if anyone is going again, I'd be keen to tag along as I live in Hindhead and have only been a couple of the lanes on my mountain bike - never in the Landy. I figured that it's never a good idea to go off roading alone just in case something did happen.

    Stainless Steel Grille

Couldn't stop myself taking a look and found that I've paid a few quid more at rebel - £43.50 but was ordering other stuff so didn't cost me extra delivery charge I suppose... Stainless Steel Accessories for Land Rovers

Rebel 4x4 also sell these so worth comparing prices - although I know they've got a bit of an order backlog at the moment after manning their stand at Billing. I've got one on the way from them.

    Complete electrical failure

Sounds like a problem I had with my 1985 90 just prior to it's last MOT. I went to turn the engine on and it just clicked. First of all, I was thinking battery because I'd been having problems with it going flat for a while anyway so I got a brand new Numax and it was duly installed but no...

    Rebel 4x4

I ordered some stuff last week and was surprised not even to have had a response to my follow-up email so I phoned them this morning. The lady on the phone was pleasant enough and explained that they have been out running their show stand at Billing and that all orders and communications will...

AWDC Drivearound - Broxhead Common, Bordon, 5th July

Hi All, was a good day out. Took the missus in the D3 (not for off roading but to carry the kids) and me in the 90. Even with all the heat we've had recently, there was enough deep mud for plenty of people to get well stuck! I would post some pictures but I've got no idea how to make that...

Options when replacing LR90 rear crossmember

"Take the tub off" - presuming that means removing the body - now that really sounds like a big job and I wouldn't know where to start... unless someone has a picture laden tutorial or something. In reality, I can spare at most about 2-3 hours over the course of a weekend to do whatever I...

Options when replacing LR90 rear crossmember

Could you share the details of your local indy? I'm in Hindhead so not a million miles away from you if you're in Kernow as your sig says. I'd definitely drive that far to save myself a couple of hundred quid!

Options when replacing LR90 rear crossmember

Hi All, I want to solicit advice / opinion on the options open to me for replacing my rear cross member on the 1985 LR90. I have no welder, nor welding skills so it's a garage job I'm afraid. I've been offered 3 options: NB - the prices are all supply / fabricate & fit, inc VAT 1...
