I initially thought it was the white/red cable from the ignition switch getting re-energised. However, that's not the case. The ground (black) cable is getting the juice and causing the relay to re-activate.

It's definitely re-energising. If you remember, initially I thought it was something else.belt driven, but it's definitely the starter restarting. Not a good sound to hear (or smell to smell!). Removing the relay and using the jumper solves it. I'm suspicious that the problem I have with the...

I'll do that. Might there be a glow plug relay - in which case it will be difficult to identify whether they are on or off. I don't have. a light on the dash....

Does anyone know how I would find out which relay is which on my 1986 Ninety 200TDi. I know the one on the extreme left is the starter relay and the one on extreme right is the hazard relay. Thanks
