Thanks chris that's a great help, funnily enough it's pretty original but a few things have been altered like the original galvanise has been glossed silver and its detail like this that I want to get back to originsl spec, also interior too!

Trying bit by bit to restore series 3, is there anywhere that shows original spec and finishes for one of these? Want to try to keep internal and external as close as I can to what it was back in 74 when it rolled out.

Thanks Divie, it was first job I have tackled since I got her so I'm delighted it all worked out and nice to avoid the cost of a mechanic :)

Managed to thread in another bolt, put everything back together and shes running great and most importantly no coolant on the floor anymore!

Will try get pic marmaduke, I was thinking of trying shortened bold with washer but not sure if I will get grip on it. Going to go at it in the afternoon so hopefully it will work.

Thanks Divie bit of a desperate cause when I posted last night! What I will say is that I got the head and practically all of bolt out, there is the bottom of a bolt left in there maybe only 6-7mm, what you think?

Installing new water pump in my series 3, think I'm in trouble. Managed to line up all bolts eventually then I foolishly over tightened one and it snapped leaving part of it in the thread, it was my last one to tighten. Can I leave it there or as I said am I in trouble. Raging.

Ha ha no nitrous but it did manage 60mph without any great difficulty, I think water pump was on its way out anyway lots of small coolant leaks over last few weeks, new pump coming tomorrow so hopefully she will be back on the road for the weekend. On another note I'm planning to get it...

Water pump off! Any ideas how much coolant required whèn filling back up radiator? Also which coolant for series 3?

Scratch that got fan off bit of brut force required! Now for the pump ;)

Ok, have got the ball rolling, removed fan belt, lost at least an hour removing god damn cowl and shroud thanks to some nicely rusted screws!!! Aaarrrgggh!! Anyway have removed 4 bolts on front of fan but cannot for the life of me get fan off.... What's the story here what am I missing??

That would explain water near sump Blackburn, gonna dive in tonight and try sort but looks like water pump I'm guessing so

Will do might be this evening before I can, this may sound mad but lot of the water seems to be coming from one of the bolts holding the sump? Maybe it's just building up there, more investigation needed.

Ok poured water in to rad and literally came out as soon as I poured in, looks like a constant flow from one area. Diagnosis is not my strong point could it be damaged pipe? ( wishful thinking) or worse??
