Spot on peejaysea the more info the better, interestingly spoke with a mechanic friend if mine this evening and he also recommends the diesel oil mix and has sprayed it on a few vehicles says that's its good because it manages to treacle into all areas of chassis. Sounds good

I think what peejaysea is asking is what treatment can later be easily srripped if he wants to go at welding etc....my chassis has been waxoyled twice according to PO records but in the spots where it's peeling its gonna be tricky to get off...but on the flip side it definitely bought some time...

Back door is good and tub is in good order too, no leaks that I can see. What I can say is that fumes seem to come in around driver area, gear box etc....

Was told to take molasses with boiling water for a foot injury once! Did the trick ha ha good luck!

What sort of condition is chassis in? Has it ever been treated or waxoyled prior?

Fumes insidr series 3 from time to time particularly on runs where there are lots of stops and starts, oil smell sometimes then petrol at others. Any advice?? ;)

Thanks Blackburn, checked that out some really interesting stuff on there. Cool stuff like optional extras lists, who knew passenger door lock would be optional extra! The good old days when you could leave everything unlocked and have it still there in one piece the next morning ;)

Not sure what protocol is on this one but on Sunday I got a wave from a woman who I know has a defender but she was driving a little mg convertible, when I meeting her in her defender we also do the "wave" but she waved from the mg on Sunday and well I didn't wave back....feeling guilty.

Interesting to hear different prices, I'm in Ireland and got a quote on Friday last for €1,500 to respray series 3. Interestingly the previous owner had hand painted her so body shop is telling me it needs to be finished with coach paint rather than two pack incase it reacts and bubbles, doctors...
