    Newbie

Welcome and good luck. I had a 1.8 Freelander and thought it was a very under rated Landie. Ignore the 'Gaylander' **** from the diff lock snobs. Regardless of how much I liked mine though, be warned that your head gasket will go sooner rather than later even if it's had a super duper uprated...

New to this and a bit unsure

Best to read through the Range Rover forum before posting any questions as the first response will be 'do a forum search' though there are some understanding long time users on here there are a lot of knob's as well!

Hi - new Disco owner here!

Enjoy your erm....vehicle (I'm not sure whether I prefer car or truck for any of the three Disco's that I've owned myself?) :)

    Diff lock centre console decal

Hi all, I've had a look through the forum but haven't come across this one being asked previously (could be wrong of course)... Does anyone know where I can get a replacement decal for the diff lock instructions on the centre console in a 300tdi Disco? I've tried Fleabay and Google searches but...

Another tick on the job list.

Evening! Got my Disco back this morning, went straight for a test drive, wow! What a difference to the low down power, I assume it's a combination of EGR bypass, service, an additive to decoke the engine internals etc, I'm really looking forward to a long run at the weekend

Another tick on the job list.

That's quite a list Brian, similar to mine (300 tdi manual), I pick mine up in the morning, had major problems with it over the last 10 days, a mobile mechanic was unable to fix so took it to a garage I stumbled across with a guy who is well into his Landy's and it is less than a mile away...

    Yet another "buying this tomorrow"

That's a lot of money if you don't mind me saying but, if it is free of expensive problems and you keep it a long time it won't matter too much. If you haven't been top Wigan before you'll be less than impressed, it's a dump. Good luck!

    Freelander Faults poll

Bought my 98 S Freelander 3dr 1.8 2 months ago, no major problems, good history with it, got to top up coolant frequently (will try the correct bleeding procedure) but is silky smooth for a rover 1.8 and at the moment is more reliable than my Disco 300tdi (sat outside with fuek system fault), a...

    Quick Valuation !!

Biggen is right, snow tax counts for a lot now. You're alomost into 's'reg TD5 territory (albeit ebay unwarranted etc) for the price the dealer is asking. Best bet is to find a friendly Disco owner in your area who is prepared to go and look at private sale vehicles with you, you should get a...

New disco owner from portsmouth !!!

I read your questions on the Disco forum Polsta, so you bought it? Good for you. Best of luck with it, you'll be fine.

    300tdi Cold Weather problems

In removing the sedimenter, the unit was ruined, the infeed outfeed pipe nuts are seized solid making basic maintenance impossible. I'll be following the 3 monthly check advice to keep on top and prevent future problems.

    300tdi Cold Weather problems

Hi all, sorry to hijack the thread but it seems pertinent. I've established (I think) that my sedimenter is very old and I am replacing it tomorrow. I have a choice between a £20 buy from Foundry 4x4 which is local and give an excellent service, or a £62 unit from Bearmach. Given that it is an...

    First Discovery

Apart from those points already mentioned, I would check there are no obvious signs of leaks from the steering box, central locking is all in order and the rear door has not dropped on the hinge, pointless shelling out the thick end of three grand and getting an example with those issues to...

    300Tdi: Greasing prop shaft

I will schedule an oin the bench inspection when my father in law next visits, he's a mechanic (though never had a great interest in Landy's) and though he's getting on quite a bit, he'll be a reassuring presence as I've never done it before. Thanks for the advice all.

    300Tdi: Greasing prop shaft

Thanks for the reply's, I feel reassured that I've probably done the prop some good even if I haven't reached every necessary part. I'll probably go with the little and often method suggested, at least I'll appear to be getting my money's worth from the grease!

    300Tdi: Greasing prop shaft

Evening all, I've serviced my '96 300tdi Disco today and one of the tasks I wanted to do (as the previous owner neglected her and she hasn't had a service in 20k miles) was to grease the prop shaft. I obtained some of the Lithium grease etc and proceeded to pump in to the rear section first. The...

Series II headlamps onto a 300 Tdi

Hi, Indicator assembly would not fit as the wing around the indicator is a different shape. I have just purchased a TD5 and a week later sold my 300 TDi, whilst I had both, I spent some time comparing (admiring) both to see how on earth Land Rover could claim that every panel except the back...

    2 Disco's in two months

Hi, I'm Tony. I bought a 96 Discovery 1 at the end of July. A few niggly problems with door locks etc but I love it. I got hooked when the company I work for took some of us 4x4 driving near Tenby in West Wales in June. I love the Disco but it's a bit 'rugged' for transporting the family (2...
