    Strange Vibration

I had exactly that problem recently. The symptoms were absolutely identical. I know I've said it before, but go and get the wheel balancing checked and check that your wheels are flat to the hubs. I had little plastic rings on my hubs that I didn't realise weren't supposed to be there for...

    Fitting a Tow-Bar

Cheers ming... So I take it the electrics just plug in to things that are already there, or am I going to be cutting wires and splicing back together? And the bolt holes are already in place? Looks like a job for a Bank Holiday weekend to me... :D

td4 Rocker Cover Breather... where is it?

On another thread Clutchdust told me I should change the rocker cover breather in order to prevent it blocking... But I can't find the damn thing! Got the cover off the engine, but I can't see anything that looks like a breather or breather hose! If someone can post a photo with an arrow...

    Fitting a Tow-Bar

Thinking of buying a tow-bar of ebay and fitting it myself... How hard is fitting a tow-bar (got a 2002 td4 s/w)? Are all the holes pre-drilled? Are the electrical connections already there? Does anyone have a breakdown of how to do it?

Calling Clutchdust et al re: Preventative Maintenance

Calling Clutchdust et al re: Preventative Maintenance

Thanks for the replies guys.... are there any ways of helping to conserve the turbo? (apart from not driving flat out everywhere!)

Calling Clutchdust et al re: Preventative Maintenance

What aspects of preventative maintenance should I be carrying out on my 2002 TD4 and how difficult are they? I am thinking along the lines of... Changing the IRD fluid. Changing the gearbox fluid. Putting anti-seize compound on the injectors Checking bearings etc etc Please add...

    Steering Column Clunk/Rattle

Nah, not broken down, just annoying the ****e out of me! Although had some fun in it tonight across the fields, so feeling much better... is a "TSB" like a recall (i.e. free!)?? The clunk is worrying, but glad to know it won't cause further damage.

    Buying a freelander!!??

I need a car that is capable of off-roading, but is comfortable on a 20 mile commute down fast, winding A-roads. I am also vain enough to want something that looks good and has a few extras (leather seats etc). The Freelander is the only vehicle that had all of those things (in my current...

    Buying a freelander!!??

Think this one has settled another issue, although the noise seems to come from further down the steering column... http://www.myfreelander.com/steerprobs8.htm

    HG prevention?

As far as I'm aware, the HG failure is down to the fact that there is only a bit of coolant in a K-series engine, as it's fundamentally pretty thermally efficient. The problem arises when there's a leak (usually from the manifold area, I believe) and the fact that the small amount of coolant...

    Steering Column Clunk/Rattle

Ok, here's yet another query about the car I'm rapidly falling out with... There's a kind of heavy sounding clunk/rattle coming from deep within the steering column when I go over bumps (off road). The steering is fine, but the noise is louder and or/more noticeable when I turn on a bumpy...

    Buying a freelander!!??

The td4 manual is allegedly the pick of the range, but I have to say that mine hasn't impressed me so far... very shoddily built!

    HG prevention?

I believe a larger coolant tank with a level-sensor should help prevent the coolant loss which leads to HGF in these cars. Otherwise keep checking your coolant level. (Daily or before/after any long run.) I think they're commercially available now, although a friend of mine originally...
