Can be a good idea to use electrical solder instead of normal lead, as it's got flux built into it, which should ensure a better connection to the cable... I've not done it on my Hippo, but I've used the technique to make a new throttle cable for my quad - it's lasted 3 years so far!

Piece of ****... when you get the rear door panel off, it's fairly obvious once you get in there. You should get one cheap off Ebay... I greased the wires up and it runs smooth as silk! (as opposed to rough and grinding like it used to be!)

Having revisited this problem... after driving round in it for the past few months, I've decided the master cylinder is shafted. There is a tiny amount of hydrolic fluid round it. I've finally sorted the stop problem, byt putting a couple of tiny screws into the little plastic clip that...

Yup... noise still there and the VCU is definitely not goosed... repainted the lines on it and took it orund the block... worth mentioning to anyone that try's this and craps themself that nothingt's moving: you need to pain the lines on the front part of the VCU where the propshaft goes into...

Well... I don't think the VCU is knackered... lines moved a bit after a longer run. However, the noise from the rear is still there on full lock! Am considering removing the VCU and drive shafts to save wear and tear, but wonder if I can also remove the rear diff and get it overhauled at...

Right... will try that. Am now well and truly praying that the VCU isn't shagged AND has screwed up the diff and IRD!!!

Righty... just been for a mile long drive to spread the oil over the diff and it seems fine... woohoo! However, while I was under there, I put white lines across the VCU to check that was OK... they haven't moved! :( How far do you usually have to drive to get them to seperate?

Got the bugger off... all it took was a 3/8" drive ratchet... came off pretty easy with no need for eze-it or anything. Took approx 250ml to top up... so I'm off for a drive shortly to spread it round, then try the old full lock. The oil already in there was pretty mucky, but I couldn't...

If your balance isn't set toally to the left, check the connections behind the little plastic panel near the door frame at the front. Need to remove step-trim to get it off, but it may just be that the connector has come undone... although I doubt it, they're clipped to the A frame.
