Lower Fuel Economy and Black Smoke at Revs...

Hi all... long time since I've checked in here, but been busy with other projects etc. Hope you're all well... Over the last 6-12 months or so I've noticed the fuel economy on my TD4 has been a bit worse than it used to be (getting ~380 miles between fill ups, instead of well over 400) and...

    Thumping noise

Mine still has a thumping noise from the rear when I'm on full lock and the VCU is fine on mine (I've done the white line test). It also drags one of the wheels badly on gravel surfaces. I've just replaced the front diff mount agan after only 6 months, so I think my diff must be fooked, as it...

That sounds an interesting option... how long did it take you?

No worries if it doesn't fit... will just bang it on Ebay! A few winter's evenings putting my CD collection onto CDs as MP3s beckons...

    Help with CD Changer Please!

Does anyone know if any of the freelander autochangers are "IP bus" compatible? I've just bought a Pioneer DEH-P65BT head unit so I can use the bluetooth handsfree functionality on it. Just wondering if I can bodge a changer (possibly even the one I've got now, not sure of the make but...

TD4 Engine breather filter & valve assy

£40????? Shouldn't cost anywhere near that... I paid about £20 from a main stealer and it took me about 15 minutes to do.

    Sony Stereo causes electrical chaos

FLJan... is it the Sony bluetooth one? if so, is it any good? I'm thinking of whacking one in my car... or a Pioneer one.

    Considering a Freelander

Bloody hell... a £55 full tank gets me around 460 miles. I must be one of the lucky ones!

    Wanted... Front Wiper Mechanism

Anyone got a working front wiper mechanism spare? Often come with a second hand motor, but you may have just replaced the motor on it's own. Mine broke at the end, but the motor's fine.... I've fixed it with a spring and it's working fine, but I do want to replace it.

    Considering a Freelander

Plenty to look for. I would say... Take it for a test drive and... Listen for any noises coming from the drivetrain. (Find out what an IRD is and do you best to make sure that's OK!) Take it on a car park or other solid open space and do full lock circles in both directions, listen...

    Rear window doesn't work

Wonder if any other Rovers use the same motor and gearbox part???? The guides are fine. Anyone any ideas?

    Rear window doesn't work

It's definitely the motor... switches both work fine, over 12V at the terminals. Water present on the terminals on mine. I'll strip mine out this weekend and see if it can be fixed, but as with most things on a Landy I doubt it's waterproof! :(

    Rear window doesn't work

You need to get the window down to remove the glass... it's connected by two clamps. It's a bit awkward getting it out, but you should manage it after a bit of fiddling. Getting the window down in the first place seems to be the first problem...

    Rear window doesn't work

I've got exactly the same problem... I've not had the trim off mine yet, but I was guessing a loose connection. At least this time it's stuck "up"... last year the cable guide broke on the same windoe with the window right down just as a thunderstorm started... managed to get it back up but...

    Autochanger

Yes, the Bluetooth ones do allow you to use them as a handsfree... it's my next buy... ...once I've paid for a new sunroof mechanism, sorted out a whirring sound coming from the front left side when driving, put new shocks on the front end, sorted out the drivers side rear window... and so...

    Sunroof Guides - Cheapest place?

Well I've already had mine in pieces and have put them back together (still broke!), so 'm confident I can do the job in an afternoon. Parts from Landrover are about £200+ so I guess 2-4 hours work for them, depending on the hourly rate. Sounds about right, if a little extortionate! It's...

    Sunroof Guides - Cheapest place?

Afternoon chaps, Intending to replace my sunroof guides this weekend and get the old roof working again (if weather is fine enough!) Anyone know the cheapest place to get a brand new set? Flea bay has them at £160 plus p&p, which is a fair bit cheaper than dealer prices. Can anyone do any...

    speakers

Think they're all 16.5 cm component speakers. I changed my front ones for 17cm ones and they fit OK (ish) with no cutting of panels etc.
