    Series 3 Mouldy car

My S3 sadly has to live outside and is not far from a group of trees and open fields. As a result it's getting covered in green mould especially wing tops and tropical roof, also in side window slides. I'd welcome advice on what chemicals if any, others use to keep this under control. Thanks...

To Buy or not to Buy?

If you are serious about driving longer distances, I think overdrive is essential in reducing revs by 28% or thereabouts. It makes cruising at 50 a real possibility. You are right to stay off dual carriageways if you want to avoid trucks up your exhaust. When I bought my 1974 S3 last year we had...

    Series 3 Mixture/Servicing/Idling/who knows

I might try another new condenser or refit your old one

    Series III, worth buying?

Congratulations. My 1974 Series 3 has about 37000 on the clock but I assume that's the mileage on its second engine fitted from Turner in 1999. Goodness knows its actual total

    Series III, worth buying?

Could it also have an overdrive gearbox? If so it'll make the commute quieter and cheaper

Series 2 Any one with a Series 2 station wagon - trim removal question

My Series 3 station wagon has those too, like head rests for rear seat passengers, now held together with clothes pegs...Sadly no obvious sign of how to remove them so I'll have a look tomorrow

    Series 3 Historic Tax

It may be easier to get it changed to historic before the tax expires so you're not messing around with refunds. When I changed my 1974 Series 3 last year, it only took a couple of weeks through DVLA

Series 3 SWB Rear shock absorber top bolt

Thanks for all help, now fixed both sides. And fortunately no sign of ovalling. Looked pretty good underneath when on the ramp, next job a new exhaust, are stainless steel systems worth the extra cost?

Series 3 SWB Rear shock absorber top bolt

Many thanks for your quick response. How did I know? Lots of banging underneath as the bolt slid out a bit so the shock absorber eye banged on the bolt when going over bumps

Series 3 SWB Rear shock absorber top bolt

If it's possible you've overfilled the sump, is it possible the engine is dieseling?

Series 3 SWB rear springs - one broken leaf

Thanks for all advice, job now done with standard springs and new shocks. She sits properly level now and no longer rear wheel steers, turns out there were 2 broken leaves on the offside including the top one! Explains the "exciting" drive I had getting her to the garage! Thanks again

Series 3 SWB rear springs - one broken leaf

Many thanks for your help. GB Springs not answering their phone. So will try elsewhere later this week

Series 3 SWB rear springs - one broken leaf

My 1974 SWB now has a broken leaf on the rear right spring, fell into a pothole. I'm presuming to change both sides, and to stay with standard spec plus new shock absorbers for good measure. Looking at previous posts on this subject, they're all 5+years old it seems What's the current thinking...

    Series 3 maltese cross grille

Looks much better I think without the L plate...the plastic grille just speaks volumes about BL at the time...great colour scheme by the way

    New owner saying hello

Ah yes the front lamps, I haven't found the switch for those yet. There's another above the back door which the paperwork says has been disconnected from the loom (if it was ever connected), so it seems someone has been bodging in years gone by. I talked about new springs before but suspect a...
