    Diagnosing Smoke Issue - 300TDi

Well fuel pump was tweaked by allard when they did the intercooler I believe - would it not be black smoke if that were the case? The smoke does hang in the air a bit - sort of bluey colour (Looks like oily smoke to me). Checked the dipstick and oil is actually just over 'full' - engine was...

    Diagnosing Smoke Issue - 300TDi

Not had any issues starting, the occasional cold day it'll take one or two more 'rotations' (you know what I mean) to start, but not failed to start yet. Hang on - I'll get a pic of the engine bay to ascertain if the egr has been removed or not.

    What Have I Done!

Welcome! I too have recently taken on a 300tdi (Secretly I call it a truck too ;) but not on here) Not having to use a car every day is the best thing if you don't want to end up hating a car.

Ffs wake up your landy will be stolen

I remember reading a suggestion that someone had somewhere - buy a cheap phone, PAYG sim card, adapt the charger to run off the ignition so it always stays charged, hide it somewhere in the car - under a panel or something - if it does get nicked, you can trace the phone signal. Not sure if this...

    Defender Bender: My 110

Ah, LandyZone you wonderful place. As always, someone has already done the thing I was thinking of, and taken pics of it, fantastic. I want a split tailgate like this: http://www.landyzone.co.uk/lz/f7/rear-flap-my-defender-77840.html As the top half is probably salvageable - most of the rust...

    Defender Bender: My 110

Today's fun and games... In between fixing my girlfriend's bike, I managed to get the pesky chequerplate off the back door to investigate. Yup, that's a big hole I think the self tappers that held the plate in were unsealed, they were all rusty and seem to have been letting moisture in...

Well, as far as I know from the research I've done, it's: Fake hinges off Doors off Top and side of dash removed Windscreen panel out Flaps out (OH) Then, cutting back the rusty panel on the outside until it gets to good metal. I'm thinking that then exposes the inside panel. The plan is...

Blah blah blah. Update blah blah. Changing rocker cover gasket, also changed a jubilee clip as it was a bit rank. Gave most things a wipe down to ease the grime build up Then I thought I'd get some practice taking things apart and investigate the bulkhead rust Looks fixable...

Bit of a boring update, but have ordered a couple of bulkhead repair panels (For the usual corners by the windscreen - just the drivers side has gone but thought I'd get the pair). New rocker cover gasket too - there's a few years' worth of oil spillage on the block so going to fit the gasket...
