The length of the stick isnt going to help, it will always vibrate a bit at speed and move when the gearbox re-engages on take off. Unless it falls off in your hand or is hitting your passenger due to the vibrations, stop panicking.

Result: The noise has gone after the removal of the wind deflector, i cant believe that with it fitted it made such a loud cracking noise. Thank you all.

My wifes TD4 had the mechanism which is attached to the clutch pedal replaced under warranty earlier this year, it took 1 hour to change. The pedal would stick down completely and then release on its own.

Your noise on gear changes is almost certainly a rear bush, probably the top diff bush, 20 minute job.

Fuel Pump is where i would start. It will be the lift pump in the tank that is on its way out, TD4 cars suffer very similair problems and its always the pump.
