Bargain Of The Year Due To Big Move

I think you need to get this on Ebay, if you don't get any responses this weekend. You'll get 7 days to watch the bids go in, and with it being LPG, I think you'll get a good price for it. If you do go down that route, make sure you give it a great write-up, with plenty of quality pictures...

    Any advise for a Newbie

New head bolts are not needed, if the old ones are OK. If you use the old ones, you might want to give them a tweak after a few weeks, as they might have settled in a tad. My head didn't need skimming, and I'm told that skimming Disco heads is not a good thing to do, although I must admit I...

Aaaah, gotcha! Too busy looking at work stuff, when I should be concentrating on extracurricular stuff! :o

    1st problem

Not sure where the switch is located, am at work and the manual is at home, plus I've never had THAT problem on my Disco (touching wood)! One other thing to check, when you have located the switch, is the wiring. Someone else had a similar problem on a Freelander, and there was a small nick in...

    Any advise for a Newbie

Isn't it the gasket that's causing the problem?

    oil light

I know, that's why I asked the question! Lets wait and hear what Helpme says, but yes it is a fairly big job to replace the pump, and no it isn't too hard to replace the switch. Got a Haynes? If not, pop across to Halfords or buy a used one from Ebay for half the price. :)

    1st problem

Could be any of 3 things, have listed them below in order of cost (lowest cost first); 1) Wrong oil - incorrect grade could trick the pressure sensor into thinking it has low oil. FIX - change oil and filter. 2) Oil pressure sensor/switch knackered. FIX - change it. 3) Oil circulation...

Hey Median, what happened then? Someone else is in the same boat, and needs advice! ;)

    Any advise for a Newbie

Well, I bought my 94 300tdi auto a little over 2 months ago. Don't worry about the EGR valve, you don't have one, as LR didn't fit it on UK cars back in 94. The plate was fitted as other countries (at that time) did require an EGR valve, hence the option. Good eh? The breather seal perishing...

200 tdi Head gasket disaster - Help

Re the first, yes, but for me (a novice where car mechanics are concerned) its still miracle stuff. As for the second, again, close to miracle stuff, especially as a 'get you home' measure. A bit like tights for fan belts, although you'd probably need Norah Batty's tights for a Disco! :D

200 tdi Head gasket disaster - Help

Not all of them are ****. I can think of a couple that have worked for me. OM15 hydraulic fluid to decoke my old motorbike, that stuff you bung into your radiator to stop leaks. I'm sure there are other things out there that have worked miracles. Not sure about those fuel additives though! :p

Oh no! It wasn't the turbo, its the head gasket!

Thanks for the thought, but it proved to be the gasket in the end, so Matt replaced it with an OEM part, replaced a couple of other seals, replaced the downpipe (had a 'cokecan' type repair), AND fitted the dash repair kit, all for only £695 all in! Well impressed. :p TBH, I would have had it...

Battery light on; rev counter not working!

Well, thanks again for the info. It didn't happen at all today, so I'll not do anything yet, apart from check the connections, clean them and lube them as necessary. I might try a few load tests (satnav, coolbox, dvd player) whilst driving to and from work, as I plan to drive across to the...

Battery light on; rev counter not working!

Thanks James, Discomania. If the alternator was on its way out, would the light just 'blink off' when it was making more leccy than the battery? Would this not be indicative of a loose connection suddenly finding its way again, in the blink of an eye? Or, am I clutching at straws, in a futile...

Battery light on; rev counter not working!

Hi All, Had an interesting scenario this morning. I got into my car to drive to work, having not started it for 4 days, and whilst it started 1st time, it sounded a little lethargic. However, I noticed (a) the battery light was on and (b) when I pulled away, the rev counter needle didn't move...
