More tinkering. I got the oil pump on, should have done this while the timing cover was on the bench! Trying to check the gap and then fill it with vaseline and then clean it off, fit the gasket, do the bolts up. Argh! Only slightly related to the engine, but got the exhaust manifolds...

Potentially risky trying to find two used good turbos that are suitable. Or buy new or buy used and get refurb'd. Lots of options depending how you want to do it. Although anything can be done given enough time and looking in the right scrap yard or garage. ;) If you went supercharged, then...

I've got tin head gaskets and a composite valley gasket. Front two bolts in? No, as you look at the picture the bolt on the right hand side is screwed in a few threads - fits nicely. The bolt on the left hand side you can't even get the thread started as the hole in the inlet manifold is too...

Got a few things bolted on today. :) Water pump on and then found, cleaned and painted the power steering pump bracket - the original reason for tearing the engine apart. Then I went too far! :o (i am aware there are some missing bolts on the water pump.) Push rods and rocker arms installed...

So someone is a muppet and misplaced the bag labeled 'Fuel pump screws to fuel tank'. :o I don't suppose anyone knows the size of the machine screws that hold the fuel pump to the fuel tank on a '88 RRC? :( Might as well replace them with stainless ones while I'm fitting a new fuel pump and...

I have a spare sump from another V8. So I removed it and cleaned it inside and out. Painted the outside as well. Will be fitting that tomorrow once I've cleaned the oil pick up. :cool: So the insides of this engine are pretty clean considering its been stripped to its block everything cleaned...

Got the new 3.9 camshaft, timing chain, camshaft gear and crankshaft gear installed and timed in. Got the timing cover on and bolts torqued down and then the 10 bolt cylinder heads on with tin gaskets. Bolts to be torqued down tomorrow. :cool: :D
