What did you do with your Range Rover today

Been out to have a look at it today... and Agreed. :( Noticed a very small puddle on the floor that wasn't there yesterday. A pain to find but turns out, leaking coolant from the weep hole on the water pump! Bummer huh? Water pump was fine last time it was used... Small leak now, but that means...

    my 3.5 rebuild thread

Keep the updates coming! I've just got my V8 back together and running, such a grin when you hear it rumble and gurgle and burble. Look forward to seeing it finished! So you're running a 3.5 block, a 3.9 or hurricane cam?, 9.75:1 pistons and a weber 500 carburettor? Should be good when it's...

    1988 Range Rover Classic 3.5L V8 EFi

ABOUT BLOODY TIME! Well... Completely bricking it today, everything sorted. First turn of key with spark plugs out to check oil pressure, pressure came up nice and fine. Nothing blew up so far. Spark plugs back in, turn key.... HOLY **** IT FIRED UP. Kept at 2.5k for 20 minutes, checking for...

Cheers! :D:D:D Soooo... today seemed like a good idea to fit these two 12" electric fans, because I had them and never had a viscous one in the first place... Started with some CAD (cardboard aided design - project binky anyone?).. Going well, need to make a weld. Gas bottle empty. So is the...

What did you do with your Range Rover today

Final touches before first engine start... Then I find I've misplaced the oil sump plug. Bollocks!!! Also started rebuilding the handbrake assembly. Oil inside and outside... outside caked in about 5mm of horrible thick oily sludge. New handbrake shoes and transferbox rear oil seal to go in.

    1988 Range Rover Classic 3.5L V8 EFi

Also started on the handbrake today. It uh... doesn't work. Any guesses as to why... ;) Gross!!! New transfer box rear oil seal fitted when it goes back together. Cleans up quite nicely! Literally the only thing derv is useful for... cleaning. :) Now where did those new...

So to monitor the state of the engine whilst the cam is being run in.. I've gone and bought some gauges and sensors just to make sure 100% I know whats what. Coolant temperature, Oil pressure and a tachometer because from last time, I couldn't get the dash one to work properly, so will...

    Introducing my Landy and me

Hi Marc! Welcome to the forums. ;) A sense of humour is always a good idea on this forum, lifes too short! Yes, spannering on Land-Rovers is a great response to a mid life crisis. So much so I had mine early. Looking forward to the updates and pictures of your Land-Rover in the future!

Series 3 Look what the mother in Law did!

Absolutely nothing wrong. ;) That is amazing! Get the meccano set out quick! Get spannering on a meccano Land-Rover. I used to have a military meccano set that you could make a *gasp* willys style jeep. Land-Rover shouldn't be too much more. It'll be practice for the restoring and driving their...

    Disco 200tdi rear re-build

I'm getting nightmares and flashbacks from doing mine! Its a fantastic feeling as I'm sure you know watching it go from a crusty sorry state to something you did thats welded solid and painted black. :) I like your 6mm box section for the rear. Did similar with my sills - the age old, replace...

Thanks for the comments! :D Yes pete1987RRC, get spannering! How bad is the damage? And also, to be fair I don't actually know what the centre silence delete actually sounds like. Haven't started or run the cam in yet on this engine. So first start up is an extra surprise! Fingers crossed its...

Please excuse the potato quality pictures. Boot floor has been fitted! Pictures of that tomorrow in day light. Engine also very close to first start after a top end rebuild (3.9 cam, and 28cc skimmed heads). Couple more bits to do before the first start. Couple of bolts on water pump...

    3.5L Top End Rebuild

There has been a slight change of plan, long story. The story is basically: I could fit EFI now, or I could fit some dirty horrible carburettors now. And then megasquirt it in one hit. :D Couple more bits to do before the first start. Couple of bolts on water pump, coolant lines to heater...

    3.5L Top End Rebuild

Engineers of a nervous disposition may want to look away... So lets say you have a Rover V8 that you fitted skimmed cylinder heads to. Cylinder heads that you didn't know how much they were skimmed by... ... and now the inlet manifold doesn't fit, so ideally the two inlet faces of...

What did you do with your Range Rover today

Today was a reasonably productive day! Measured preload and fitted shims on the V8, preload is now 0.040", smack bang between the required 0.020" -> 0.060". Fitted new vacuum hose from servo to inlet manifold (still waiting on that). Fitted new fuel pump into tank and sorted out some fuel...
