Hi John I have a disco TD5 with just about the same miles as yours and my steering is perfect seems low miles for you to need another Box?

This mileage thingy is a bit worrying,I had a Nissan Terrano which did 137,000 with hardly anything needing to be done yet a disco seems to clap out at around 85 to 100,00. I love my disco but at 65,000 maybe I should consider a change in the next year or so,I have no intention of getting down...

I towed my caravan with my td5 all over France. They are great towing vehicles.I have had other 4x4 but the disco is the best.Good for you going to Aus much better place to live than here even tho I have never been there.J

Sun roofs leak on Discos its just a fact of life !!! leaking sunroofs must be the most common complaint.I just duck taped mine and it stopped all leaks yes you can not use the sun roof but who cares anyway you have climate control.

I see a local dealer asking £6,595 for a 2003 model with 128.000 on the clock,,you would have to be barmy to pay that with that mileage.I bought mine a year ago a 2002 model £6,795 with 52,000 miles I reckon that was a good price,and it was from a dealer with 3 months warrenty.

Just seen your comments on gear box oil.Do you have to have use this type of oil in the gear box because when I had mine changed I am sure the garage did not use this type of oil.

Waxoyle, I had mine proffesionally done and what a fantastic job it was,it put my mind to rest and i have no fear the dreaded rust will be a problem for at least the next ten years. Cost me £480.00 tho but in my mind worth it.
