Starting it without touching the gas makes a assive diff to the smoking, now on a 50/50 mix, seems fine on it, bit more smoke than normal but that seems to die off after a mile. Equivalent to 50 mpg, luv it !!!!

I tend to use it for very short runs, still only done 92 miles since putting the ol in, i'll take it for a longer run this afternoon. It is bad when its cold but eases off even after a mile or so. I'll red up on the injectors and clean them see if that helps, may take me a while as i've...

I was going off Shifty's set up, he adds 20ltr petrol to 180ltr oil. I'm running a 200tdi and a TD4 (not tried it in the freelander yet). Its smoking like hell on the currant mix, could that be the petrol, maybe its a little to thin?

Finally got my filtration system up and running, its on a gravity feed at the moment as i have no compressor, except for a cheap tyre pressure one. Filtered 70 ltrs in about 4 hrs. Mixed 10% unleaded in before filtering, then mixed it 10ltr oil to 20 ltrs of diesel. Done 90 miles and tickover...

I printed a few collection forms off and dropped em off at the garage (blank) the garage owner says he'll fill them in himself and save all his oil for me:D

Found it, it's called a Waste Transfer Notice the guys that run on veg use these forms, having read it i'm not sure how much use to us they are. Veg oil collectors are exempt from needing an environmental permit as they can claim its for personal use but can we make the same claim? I don't want...

Just collected my first batch of used engine oil, found the place by accident, there's a small yard with a tyre depot in it, i was calling there for tyres and it was shut, the mechanic from the next unit came out so i asked the question, "bloody loads of it mate, can't get rid of it" he can now...

Thanks. Should i be able to run the 3 filters in line? With a tap inbetween each to isolate them for cleaning. I'm one of the minority, i don't have a compressor, plenty on ebay cheap tho. Does it matter if the air line runs to the top or bottom of the drum?

How does this sound for a set up, for cost and ease of set up. Pump it out from the 100ltr tub at the garage, drawing from the middle of the tank to minimise the water/antifreeze that might be in it, into 20ltr containers. Mix with derv to thin it down, rough filter through that stuff you...

The garages i've spoke to tip everything into a 1000ltr tank and said help yaself, i was thinking of buying a centrifuge (£500) to make sure there was no water or antifreeze left in, it won't remove the petrol but it should save me thinning it down
