Don't see what the problem is, we all know how much he paid for it, he took a gamble that paid off, only needed a fuse changing but could have been a major job, Nathan paid the asking price and got a bargain. Done around 400 miles on 50/50 mix, a little sluggish starting and a little light grey smoke till it warms up but otherwise wouldn't know any difference:D

Got a freelander, its developed an annoying rattle somewhere around the drivers right shoulder. With it NOT being a defender you can hear every creak bang and sqeak lol

TD4 back on engine oil, put in 20ltr of diesel and 10ltr of oil, runs perfect after over 200 miles. Will try 50/50 this week. Bad news is the garage i get it from says he selling it to someone else? I think he's just trying it on.

I filtered down to 5microns, that should be ok shouldn't it? Want to cut fuel costs but i dont wan't to risk knackering the engine

Last time i mixed oil i used a little less petrol in it, about 7%, could this be why the fiel filter blocked up?

Will hav to try it again but darn't tell the missus (its her motor) LOL

Hi Mr Shifty, this is in a TD4 freelander tho? some else posted common rail engines don't like used engine oil, I'm bowing to your much greater (than mine) knowledge on this:clap2:

nope, the ad was for a 6cylinder TD5, I think he may have it wrong. On the plus side my TD4 is now fine, changed the fuel filter and its back to normal, perhaps the engine oil I used was to thick?

TD 4 don't like it, lost all the power, been back on diesel for last 1000 miles and still no power:(

Saw a 6 cylinder TD5 for sale on pistonheads. will that run on old oil ?:scratching_chin:

You're running your TD4 on veg? I always understood the common rails didn't like veg oil? There is a web site dedicated to veg oil/bio use and all the info on there seems to be to avoid the common rail engines? how long you been using it, no probs?:confused:

Is that it? Only one of ya running on alternative fuel?:D I understand the TDI and TD5 will run on just about anything, i know from personal experience that the freelander wont, i've lost a lot of power, thought it might come back when back on diesel but its not:(

Hi Pikey, you're ded right on that, as a car they take some beating but as an off roader then yep they're crap, freelander 1 is, 2 is a bit better, but not ment as a replacement for the 90:)

I was just thinking of buying a D2 for off rd to replace the 90 but if they're not so good then i'll stick with my 90:)

And what do you base that on? It could be argued it was the saviour of land rover, its sold in huge (for a land rover) numbers. Agreed the petrol engine model is a disaster but the BMW derv engine? OH and its not brill of rd but the freelander 2 is supposed to be ok:D
