    Newbie needing help/advice p38 dse

I've learned over the years that rubbishing others opinions is very shortsighted and arrogant:eek: - even if you choose to ignore or not accept someones opinion, they've gone to the trouble of offering advice so its not necessary to be obnoxious. And anyway, I certainly believe there is a...

come to my senses!!! getting rid, yeehah!!

Although I should really be selling my Rangey now as she gets so little use anymore now that I use the X5 for my long commutes, I haven't had the heart to do it yet.....mine cost a load over the 6 years I've owned her, but I know the car really well now and how she's been looked after and still...

    Enabling TV in motion

I'm only ever fair and expect decent service, Colin :) The Rangie sits quietly on the driveway and hasn't needed diagnostics yet :D Irish checked it over with his Faultmate a while back. I've been working away from home and havn't had the opportunity to set the Faultmate up yet. I'm interested...

    Enabling TV in motion

Matt, check out Rolf Reslers website Rolf Resler - Homepage I think- the resler interface is pretty cheap and so is a licence for navcoder (the software it uses). Navcoder runs on your laptop and you use a USB connection from the Resler to your laptop; resler connects into the IBus at the rear...

    Enabling TV in motion

Depends on the year / model L322 - if its a BMW IBus model, then yes, you can get a gadget called a Resler which you can use via software called Navcoder to enable TV in Motion and a few other programming items for the sat nav etc. If its a later model with the touchscreen, then I think...

    Sat Nav

If its anything like BMW, the looms are pretty standard and you should be able to plug it in if you find the correct place where it would have been fitted as the "optional extra"..... I think the Land Rover satnav units and the BMW units from that time may be the same, will try to check on that...

    Air Con chequebook symbol

Sometimes one of the blend flaps stick - there is a thread somewhere on how to cure it - as good old Range Rover didn't work out the fitting too well and the plastic flap sticks from time to time. It seems to clear itself, sometimes if you turn the engine off and on again quickly it frees it up...

    RF receiver wanted

I'll get some pics of the winch and the winch mount when I'm home and able to rootle them out  The mount is brand new and still in original Land Rover packaging with some fitting instructions from what I remember- I bought it for my P38 but never fitted it as I didn't want to carve up...

    RF receiver wanted

Hi Derek, yes still have the old gal - she stands quietly on the driveway these days as I use the X5 most of the time and I'm working away on a contract at present so haven't had the opportunity to organise ads and photos and getting the private plate off and all that, before selling her...

    RF receiver wanted

I've got my Rangie's original one lying around for you Irish if you need another sometime - all boxed up in the new 'uns box ready to flog on ebay....heeheeehee

    New engine required

An outfit called RPi in Norwich had a limited number of Coscast blocks a few months ago. You can buy the block and do it yourself, or they will build the engine up for you and if the car is trailered to them, they will do the fitting. They specialise in the P38 V8 engines and their knowledge is...

    Becm ?

Who did the blends for you? I note you are Norwich based, but local main stealers are completely useless in Norwich, so I assume it wasn't them as they quoted £1200 labour plus cost of motors (another £200+) Surely whoever the garage is, will need to present the car back to you in working...

    rangerover P38 2.5dse key programming

Next time round sync the fob to your Rangie and not a jeep, you may have more success. No Range Rover will put up with being called a "jeep" as its quite offensive really!!!!:D:D

    Sudden bleedin battery death?

Jump starting Rangies is generally not viewed as a good idea due to the electronics popping their clogs when you do so. I've however used one of those booster jump start packs several times with no problems over the years. I've always done as I described earlier in this thread and not locked...

    p38 Door lock/latch availability.

You could try RPi in Norwich - they usually have about a dozen P38s they are breaking at any time. Ebay name is Partsrange I think, ask for Ian or Chris (the owner) - they are very helpful and know a lot about Rangie engines too....they still had a few Coscast blocks last time I was...

    help a new owner

Sadly its not that easy with the Rangie and its complicated Harmon Kardon sound system with all its amps and subs and things. A good auto electrician may be able to rewire a new sound system in in which case you could choose any head unit you like. The Alpine unit unfortunately doesn't have...

    Sudden bleedin battery death?

If I'm not using the Rangie for a week or two, I only ever lock it using the key in the door lock, not via the fob. The immobiliser comes on anyhow, and the alarm just drains the battery while the car is standing. That way, if I need to take the battery out to recharge, I don't trigger the...

    Servicing an how much??

He's a good guy, I've recommended him on here before - he did blend motors for me, (around £300 all 3, brand new LR motors, incl labour), major service - was about £350 when I had it done last year, he knows his way round a P38 and will also do engine transplants etc at his workshop in Walsall...

    L322 RR TD6 2006 - Touchscreen system crashing

You could try resetting all the software by disconnecting the battery for a while then reconnecting - it often helps with more sophisticated electronics in cars, rather like a computer reboot. Often sorts out all manner of bizarre electronic gremlins. At least there's no EKA to worry about in...

    About to take the plunge!

The Harmon Kardon system doesn't lend itself to easy additions and be warned, you can't just pop the head unit out and replace with a fancy new one due to the complicated wiring and system of door subs stations plus rear sub and amp. The HK system is great if in good order - the only other...
