Time for a new exhaust system….any suggestions!?

Reading this with interest. Some of the diseasel boys seem to have a bit of a shoulder chip going on... ;) Frankly one of the principle attractions of Range Rover ownership for me is the V8 element. Throaty roar over tractor clatter any day. Just my opinion of course, others are entitled to...

    P38

Looking at several is good advice, it lets you get a better feel for what they are like. I looked at some absolute horrors before buying mine, and to be fair it's not like mine came fault free. The other annoyance is that the value of P38s has dropped to the level where they're for sale by...

What did you do with your Range Rover today

Today I fitted a new cubby box damper and finally got the DVLA letter through which has allowed me to put my private plate on the Range Rover. Thoroughly satisfying if you're as vain and shallow as I am. :D

Frostytel, you bought a 15 year+ old car which would have cost £40k+ new for £3k? Did you expect it to be totally reliable? Sorry to be harsh but I think for whatever reasons your expectations were not set at the appropriate level.

Yipeeee, it passed it's MOT yesterday.

Good result! Always satisfying when they go through the MOT! Congratulations on your hard work getting it to that point. :)

What did you do with your Range Rover today

Today was a day of P38 highs and lows. High = fitted my new MkIII sat nav system. Works a treat and finally the screen in the dash does something. Low = LPG system is being erratic, despite a recent service. LPG fuel level is all over the shop, and I had to flick back and forth to petrol...

    Sounds of water...

Had this on my V8 Grand Cherokee. It's water rushing through your heater matrix and you're hearing it because there is air in the system. This 'air' is probably gas from the engine and you probably have a head gasket issue. Best get it looked at before it gets worse!

Just read This thread Very entertained by Ongoing anecdotes. Legendary. OP sounds like a great bloke!

Neat job, and as usual your car looks great, but I'm still not sold on light guards. :) Thanks for taking the time to put a picture up though fella.

How's it looking Martyn? Pictures? :)

On the topic of light guards (and side steps, bull bars etc) I'm firmly in the nooooo camp. Martyn I think your car looks really good as it stands to be honest, light guards are not needed! On wheels, comets look good, as do hurricanes. I've just bought a set of silver hurricanes to replace...

Its Been a Year Now - So whats the Damage??

I wouldn't call any of the BMWs I've owned in the past pony but the point about depreciation is a very valid one. In the case of my own P38 I think it's effectively finished depreciating, and will always have a certain value assuming its functional. Bangernomics principles in full effect! :)

What did you do with your Range Rover today

Given the hour of posting it technically happened yesterday... But, I brought my cd changer back from the dead!! :D It now loads, reads and plays discs, including ones I've burnt myself, quite happily. Am thoroughly chuffed with myself! :)

    P38

V8 every time (with LPG so as to not break the bank). The diseasel ones I drove prior to buying my 2000 V8 Vogue lacked the feel of a luxury car in terms of performance and refinement, which are important to me. Also the Vogues tend to have more kit. As others have said however, it's a hobby...

Service today: more on the to-do list

Every place I've had my "prestige" cars serviced has usually appreciated that someone who buys such a vehicle appreciates a bit of extra mile service, so I assumed washing cars before giving them back was a given these days. Oh well, now I know differently! To be honest, the car washing thing...

Service today: more on the to-do list

Picked the Rangey up today following its service at Wicken 4x4 near Ely. It seems they know their stuff and the car is running a lot sweeter, which is gratifying. They did have the thing for four days though, and managed to leave oily grubby marks on my lightstone seat, steering wheel and door...

    Emmotts - What Service

Sounds good service. Shame they hadn't tested your first cd changer more thoroughly though! :) Out of interest, where is the place you got your replacement? I could do with a working cd changer in my P38.

    What parts should I change!

I'd satisfy yourself that the cooling system is fully functional (no leaks, coolant loss, steady engine temp, etc). These V8s don't react we'll to overheating. If your suspension isn't dropping overnight your airbags are probably ok. Any advisories on the MOT? Brake fluid need doing? Good...

Service today: more on the to-do list

My situation sounds the same as the one you describe. Corroded centre box leading to thoughts of upgrade. I'm interested about your comment about LPG though... Does this preclude the cherrybomb option? If so why?
