    she is ready

ABS and traction control warnings are lit on mine when it first fires up but disappear after 50 metres or less of driving. Do yours stay lit regardless? The windows not set is easy and nothing to worry about. Just operate them to the end of their travel in each direction and hold the switch...

    reversing camera gone blank

Nothing wrong with reversing cameras. Using technology to make a process easier is hardly rare on cars. Do the camera naysayers also say the same about power steering or assisted brakes?

Diary of a first time Range Rover owner

I'm quite local to you mate, I'll give you a hand, though I can't promise much in the way of skill! Au contraire. Plus it's stopped raining...

    Front Fog

I just paid £50 for one of these from a scrappy on eBay. Do a search for "P38 breaking" and just call/email with what you want. Much cheaper than the individually advertised items.

What did you do with your Range Rover today

My box of parts turned up from el scrappo, thus I fitted a battery cover, a foglight and, and this was seriously complicated, a new petrol cap. The new headlight (with black inner bits) will have to wait until I've got more time, and in the case of tonight, daylight.

    l322 MID unit pixel repair

Very impressive! Can you post a link to it?

Can we localize a UK L322 or L405?

Not being an expert in these things but presumably a new car import would be subject to some sort of taxation, plus vehicle checks for compliance, etc. There could also be issues with fm radio frequencies, and other minor bits. Maybe the Japanese tax authorities have a website with more...

    Sat Nav & Radio Problems

There's a guy who advertises on eBay in the uk who can fix MkIII P38 sat navs for about £75. From memory he's based in Eastern Europe somewhere. I was planning on using his services but I had a MkII which are archietecturally different. I ended up buying a refurbished MkIII unit. You can...

    air con not cold

Common area of failure is the air con condenser. This is what's stopping me from enjoying air con at the moment. The part (£130 ish) is in my garage waiting for me to have a few spare hours to fit it - then I'll try having it regassed again. The place who regassed your air con should have the...

What did you do with your Range Rover today

Say what now?! :). Speaking as someone who used to have a MkIV Golf I can assure you a P38 is definitely wider!

    Alloy wheel refurb

Fair enough. I refurbed the wheels on the Merc I sold to make way for the Rangey and they still looked good two years on, and the wheels I refurbed on the Jeep I had also lasted well. As long as you prepare the surfaces properly and let the paint and lacquer dry and harden its fine.

    worrying sight

Quite modern Range Rover like until you get to the back, then it gets a bit van-like for my tastes. I don't hate it though. I can see it doing very well in the US, which is presumably where it's designed for. Mind you, I quite like Chevy Surburbans, so draw what conclusions from that you like.

    Alloy wheel refurb

I've had enough of my black alloys so have purchased a set of silver hurricanes from eBay. The wheels arrived today but will need a refurb. Does anyone have any recommendations of a good silver paint to use? My experience of the Halford's paint is that it's a bit dark. Once I've got...

Airstream Caracan and p38 accident M40 today

Hope everyone involved is safe and well. On the plus side, one fewer caravan to clog up the roads.

What did you do with your Range Rover today

I "fitted" a boot liner to save the lightstone carpet in my P38. Bought used from a scrappy for only 20 quid and a good addition I think, especially as its black which matches the paintwork.

    Most money from a vehicle

Depends what's wrong with it, what age it is, how long the MOT is, etc, etc, etc. Normally however, if you're prepared to break it you'll probably get more £, but you'll need lots of space, time, and no need for the money in a hurry. You'll also presumably be left with a shell and bits...

    looking to buy.

Glad it was ok, though I'd be worried about the book icon. If you drive it again make sure it blows hot and cold and check every vent and associated switch on the climate control. Also set one side hot and one side cold and see if it copes. If it does, great! It it doesn't, likely one or...

Time for a new exhaust system….any suggestions!?

Respectfully, I'd expect more from a member of such standing. As car enthusiasts (as we all are), enjoying the qualities of a great sounding engine are surely something we can all appreciate. W may disagree about what virtues are important in Range Rovers, but to class all V8s as being...
