Try hammerite underseal with added waxoil (black tin with red and yellow bits) comes in a shoots tin 1L only unfortunatly, but you put it on as thick as you can until its almost running off, and it doesnt wash off like waxoil, but it took 3 tins to do the front arches on my disco :O more...

Thats why I thought it may be a 200 Engine that someone had swaped in at some point because it looks identicle to a 200 engine and I cant see anywhere obvious where the plastic cover would have bolted onto.

Why not buy a sheet of tin, two 4ft lengths of 2inch angle iron and bend the tin to the right shape and plate over them? If done right and painted, seam sealed and waxoiled it will last for a good few years, and your not sacrificing strength and saving hours and hours of work for little...
