isn't there 2 versions? one for satnav and one for without.Would that account for why your new one looks different to old one?

+1 the mushroom shaped bit is where you clamp the exhaust.It'll make sense when you offer it up before fitting.I found that a little bit of exhaust sealant paste at this joint was a good idea as mine didn't seal too well first time.

just a thought,have you tried wiping them,they wont work when dirty. failing that,have a look on the X Type Jag forums,its a common problem on them,it'll give you some pointers at least.

on a coldish morning,after starting the car,walk round to the front,you'll see the exhaust gas coming out.As said earlier,just in front of the NSF wheel,under the bumper.

or you can do what I did,mask the glass with tape around the edge then squirt bathroom silicone all around the join,wipe clean,remove tape.job done. obviously this is done to the outside....:)
