how much did u pay for the fitting kit? i bought a dog guard off ebay but with no brackets. as far as i know, the brackets go on the roof above the headrests of the rear seats. then the guard slides onto the brackets. this all depends on which type of guard you have as there are several.

where in the country? im presuming in the uk, but to narrow it down a bit might be of help.

you know what tiga. i took the rangey in for some major work on the engine a few weeks ago, incl a couple new pistons etc. when i got it back, hot start is fine now, its cold start that i have to do 3 or 4 glows before it starts. after reading other posts it looks like fuel going back down...

join the aa or rac, depending on what level you get, you get so many tows included either to home or a local garage last year i used my quota of 5 pickups on a low loader when i had overheating probs in my p38. so for £49 or so, you get 2 or 3 'recoveries' included for that year.

got this sorted. i was actually only running on 4cyl. so had a total engine rebuild, now runs like a dream. good job i didnt go to lr for this, i would have needed to remortgage my house!

it only smells like a chippie van if you use old chip oil. if you use new veg oil there is hardly any smell at all. no worse than diesel/petrol fumes anyway.

i said it was the same engine, i didnt say anything about ancillary components. the bmw m51 2.5TD engine was fitted to 3 and 5 series bmw, opel/vauxhall omega and range rover p38.

dont all p38 diesels have this problem? ive always had to keep the tank above 1/4 to stop the problems when starting from cold. another tip i picked up if you are below 1/4 is to take the fuel cap off. i know of someone else who drilled a 1mm hole in his fuel cap to stop it, but i dont...
