hmmm i still think its an air problem. are the hoses to the turbo soft or firm?

if it helps, i just bought a set of 4 contintental 235/70R16 from www.blackcircles.com inclusive of tyres,balancing,new valves,fitting,disposal of old = £280 (70 each) which i thought was a bit of a bargain. they use your local tyre fitter, so you can always find someone nearby.

possible air intake problems. check ur hoses for cracks/blockages.

white smoke normally suggests head gasket, blue smoke usually suggests piston rings. black smoke is normally unburnt fuel. yellow or red smoke means your in the red arrows :p

there was a very long thread on this very subject a while back, and basically you can get keys off ebay, and get them laser cut, and programmed elsewhere etc, but the end of it was dont bother, im afraid its one of those things there is no cheap way round it. you have to go to your main dealer...

if you can supply the chassis number (which is on the log book, or in a panel at the bottom of the windscreen) to your local lr dealer, they can give you the code, if its the standard manufacturer fitted radio of course :) if you did a history hpi check you will have the chassis info already.

that service list looks like the petrol version as it mentions spark plugs, and no mention of glow plugs/injectors or turbo.

any chance you can pop the hood and see which chip it is? any part numbers on it? you have got me drooling now, as i can only get 30mpg max out of mine, so to potentially get 48mpg on a long journey would be fantastic.

the head unit on my 96 DT has a standard ISO connection, as will yours, which opens up all sorts of possibilities for you. you dont have to buy connectors as most of the head unit manufacturers conform to this standard. i personally put a blaunkpukt head unit in, took 5 mins to install.

i can only describe it as like a pair of canastas :s. when it happens, as the rattle doesnt always happen, once it rattles, loses power until i select next gear. at the smae time as the rattle, i get a large plume of black smoke. it sounds bad dont it?

96 2.5DT Manual Rangie, 135k miles. when i rev my rangie (3000rpm) especially in 1st & 2nd, i get alot of black smoke, and occasionally get a rattle sound, like when a petrol car hits 8000rpm. I have recently had a new turbo, so fairly sure it aint that. could it be injector problem feeding...
