Rover starters are notorious for not working give it a tap on the starter solenoid usually works on daughters temporary 420 SDi.

Engines probably same as Disco was it a retro fit or factory job ? Daughter has an 86 with a tdi which was a kit from Landrover basically a Disco engine and box bolted to the RR transfer box. Mighty fine machine and very economical.

Which engine are you talking about ? I have just had the belts changed on our old Rover 420 with the L series diesel in it cost £190.00 at the local garage for both belts. can't be much different on the Freelander.

Main problem is the exhaust, Steve Graham LR do an adaptor pipe cos it ends up very tight on the bulkhead. Otherwise should be Ok 5 speed LT77 box in both but as previous post the Disco box has longer bellhousing, while doing it change the clutch fork even if it looks OK.:)

Get an old Isuzu give it a shake and put the 2.8td in the 90, my 110 does an easy 75 on the motorway and gets over 30mpg. A lot cheaper than a tdi and bullet proof reliability, parts available anywhere. Sorry Landy fans but mines so good !

Absolutely certain, 110 rears are 170 OD whereas Disco, 90 and RR are 150 same as front ones. Reason is I bought a kit for my 110 thinking they were all the same only finding the backs wouldn't fit, so have had to buy two rear springs separately, the winner is my daughter who now has a lifted...

110 / 130 springs won't fit a Disco as the spring diameter is too large, you can fit 90 or RR springs no problem and that gives you a large selection dead cheap from Padocks or Craddocks.

Daughters tdi has two batteries one either side of radiator used another battery mount welded in. Otherwise no probs doesn't half improve the starter turning it over quickly.
