    fuel pump exchange

James, thanks for that. Not looking in the engine bay at the moment but I assume that the front of the casing comes off to replace the cam belt, and if I replace that I dont need any special tools to put the other pump on? Re the gear box, i had a horrible crunch noise after I had changed gear...

    fuel pump exchange

Im not familiar with the 2.5na engine but after my TD5 engine rebuild I am returning to work on my project 1986 90. I have a leaky fuel pump and bought another from a member of the forum but a chance chat in the pub suggests its not as simple as unbolting one and bolting the other in its place...

    DEFENDER TD5 BEING A BARSTOOL !

Have you any fuel leaking under the bonnet? The fuel pressure switch will give you those symptoms if it has a minor leak at the gasket or pipes in or out. Its passenger side of the block behind the air plennum and fuel cooler, above the alternator. Know from experience when Instripped a thread...

    Pas/water pump

I have decided that the seals in the coolant pump have gone and the pink colour is actually the colour the coolant turns when its been used. Question, handbook says you should strip off the centrifugal oil drain pipe and centrifuge as well as the turbo charger and oil filter. All of these have...

    Pas/water pump

having sorted out the snagging and leaks on my rebuilt TD5 engine I have noticed a weep from the side of the PAS/water pump housing. There is a small drilled hole in the housing which is weeping a small amount of coolant after the engine has been running. When I got underneath i noticed a couple...

Ah the landie fairie has been at work. My truck has decided to start now as well (after I realised I had put the vacuum tubes wrong way round on the ECU solenoid)

    Nanocom Results / Rough Starting

Tha Thats helpful Gottschalk, I have been getting a more noisy than usual cycle on when running the fuel pump up before starting the truck. I havnt touched the fuel filter in the recent work but I got a new one in the service kit so might be worthwhile changing it and seeing if it is the problem

    Buying a nanocom

Lol, im always the optomist, never needed one for the last 16 years with this car but considering what ive spent on engine, wiring looms and new turbo perhaps its a small ask to shell out for one. Does the older one have a name?

Good point, ive got the 95ah battery from my 2.5na in there instead of the 110ah battery. But even with a jump start pack it struggled. Will consider changing the glow plug relay and swap batteries back over. But if you find anything let me know

    Recomissioning rebuilt TD5 problem

Sorry about having to keep this thread going. I managed to get her running last week with easy start to limp her to the mechanic to fit a helicoil on the head for the fuel pressure Regulator to solve the diesel leak. Limping is not really accurate as she ran really well on the 20 miles drive in...
