Is there such a thing as a "comfortable" Defender?

I'm not keen on so much electronics in a 4x4, but I will put up with them if it means a younger, more reliable vehicle mechanically.. All other things being equal, can I expect a TD5 to deliver a similar mpg?

    Hi From North Wales

Just a quick "Hello" from a potential LandRover owner from near Wrexham. Having driven, but never owned various Land Rovers in the past, I am contemplating coming over from the Dark Side ( Japanese 4x4's) and buying my first Defender. Not sure yet whether to keep it as weekend toy/second...

Is there such a thing as a "comfortable" Defender?

Thanks again everybody.. I need to decided whether to buy something relatively new and use it as a daily drive, (about 45 miles per day) or whether get something older and just reserve it as a second vehicle for shooting and green laning. If i went for say a 200 or 300TDi, I am just...

Is there such a thing as a "comfortable" Defender?

Thanks for everybody's suggestions. I've been pointed towards a TD5 in a local garage so I'm going to take a look at the weekend and maybe take it for a test drive.. Another quick question for the experts: would a County spec Defender be classed as a commercial for road tax purposes? If not...

Is there such a thing as a "comfortable" Defender?

Thanks, I hadn't not thought about the bulkheads being a factor.. I am not looking for a luxuary ride or anything, just a little more elbow shoulder room on the drivers door side.. I am wondering if a little more leg room will allow a more "stretched" driving position, which in turn would...

Is there such a thing as a "comfortable" Defender?

I fear they are not going to help much unless they can take my right arm off at the elbow!

Is there such a thing as a "comfortable" Defender?

That does seem to be the only answer up to now! But at just over 6' 1" and 15 stone, its not the most comfortable answer on longer trips! Has the seating position been improved in the newer Defenders? What about the ex military Wolf thats now becoming available? Regards, Peter

Is there such a thing as a "comfortable" Defender?

Hi Folks, I 've toyed with the idea of getting a Defender for a number of years, but have always ended up buying something else. I am looking for an old school 4x4 for shooting and stalking, and possibly a daily driver. It would be used for fairly long road trips of between 200miles and...
