MOT question - different tyre styles on same axle?

If I have General Grabber AT 235/85/r16 on three wheels and on the fourth I have a Caiman Black Star Mud 235/85/r16 tyre - will this fail the MOT? Quite different tread patterns, but both are radial... Any ideas? Vulch

Help Required : 200Tdi Defender is 'Juddering'

I had really bad juddering on my 110 200tdi '92. Only when not under drive - so in neutral or in between gears. Limped it home. A fair bit of searching on here later and I had it sorted. Symptoms: juddering in neutral and in between gears sound seemed to come from the drivetrain (eek! sounds...

Rear brake cylinder - replace or repair?

Fitting discs might be a bit more involved! But I do see your point. It is more about the hassle and fiddling than the cost of a hub nut socket to be honest! Thanks for the tip about the brake pipe too - I will have a look! How far back up do I have to go to replace it? Cheers, Vulch

Rear brake cylinder - replace or repair?

I've just changed the rear shoes on my 1993 110 - noticed that the N/S cylinder looked a bit grubby and had probably been leaking at some point. Questions: Can I replace it without pulling the hub? Or will it not fit through the gap? Can I replace the seals and refurb it without...

Front wheels locking up at low speed in wet?

Thanks everyone! Good stuff. The tyres are probably pretty old and hard - not much wear as I'm too old to drive it like I stole it - but probably getting on a bit. No cracks yet, but that could be the issue - thoughts? I put on new discs and pads about 18 months ago and all seems fine - I had...

Front wheels locking up at low speed in wet?

Like it says in the title - one of either front wheels are locking up and skidding at low speeds (>20mph) under braking on wetish roads. K reg 200Tdi 110. Anyone got any ideas? I know that the front wheels are meant to lock up before the rear, but this is getting stupid. Tyres are General...

    Crunching into gear

Ah. Thanks for that. We did weld some thickish plate on the back of the new one - just in case. Just hoping it holds longer than the last one did. Just occurred to me - would it be possible to whip out the slave and have a look at the clutch fork from there - just to see if it is the problem...

    Crunching into gear

Yup. That was it. See image. Changed the clutch and friction plate while we were in there. Welded a plate over the back of the new one as well, as this is what helped me avoid being completely (almost) immobilised this time around. I have read about 'HD clutch forks' - guessing they're...

Ah. I have just found this thread again! I thought I would post an update photo for what its worth. Cheers, Vulch

    Crunching into gear

Right, I now know a lot more about clutch hydraulic systems. I did: 1. Change master cylinder. Do not try this without taking out the clutch pedal box - which is a piece of **** TBH. Except that the nuts holding it in (in the engine bay) are captive. You need to remove the bolts from within...

Function of adjuster on clutch master?

200TDi engine - I have changed the master cylinder and have been d1cking about with the nuts on the bolt attaching the master piston to the end of the clutch pedal. What is the function of this adjuster? Will it actually move the friction plate closer to or further from the other bit? Or is...

    Crunching into gear

Vital information that I forgot to include! Little resistance for the first half of the travel and then normal resistance. Biting point is right down on the floor, or thereabouts. At the master cylinder, I can push (lever) the piston in until the resistance increases - so the change in...

    Crunching into gear

Crunching into all gears. I know a bit about the hydraulics of the clutch. 1. I have bled it - albeit with a one-man non-return bleeding tube thingy. 2. I changed the slave cylinder about 18 months ago. 3. I have been inside the master cylinder box - the end of the clutch lever(?) is...

Alternative to seal between windscreen and bulkhead?

Thanks guys! Right blanking panel and the sealant is Sikaflex 291 - also known as (or very similar to) Sikaflex EBT - available from Mr T Perkins. Picking a tube up later on. From the sound of it, this stuff should live in every man's man draw. Sticks everything to everything. Seals everything...

Alternative to seal between windscreen and bulkhead?

I also need a blank panel for the nearside hole in the wing top - opposite side to the air intake (200TDi) - but don't know what its called@!!$£@! 20 minutes of searching on various sales sites and no joy... Does anyone know what it's called? Cheers, Vulch

Alternative to seal between windscreen and bulkhead?

I have just had the O/S bulkhead welded but a bit of the seal between the windscreen frame and the bulkhead has perished in the rust and is no longer there! Only about a 4 inch section, to be fair... Shall I just squeeze in some silicone sealant? Or do I really have to get a whole new seal...

    tracking

Andy, why do you set your to 2mm (I'm guessing 2mm toe OUT - in the context of your post)? Is this for off-roading? Would 'zero' be the best setting for 90% on-road use? I'm guessing you're measuring from the wheel rim - am I right? Feels like mine are toeing out quite a bit. Going to have a...

    200 Tdi fuel leak

3mm diameter 'fuel hose' with nylon(?) braided exterior seems to have done the trick. Not stocked in my local Autocare store or either of the motor factors in town. Landrover repair place (non-franchise) down the road could get some by next week, but I found a roll in C&O Tractors in Blandford -...

    200 Tdi fuel leak

Running my 207K 200Tdi on biodiesel - if thats relevant - and have a bit of a leak. It is only the pipes that run between the injectors - don't know what it's called, I'm afraid. Old and very perished, I changed them using some rubber piping from my local motor factors. Problem now is that...
