Carry on from 'Project Big Blue'

So after a couple of weekends slowly plodding on. The steering bars, bump stops and finally the extended brakes lines are on. The brake lines took longer than expected because we all know nothing is ever a simple job when we are talking about Landrovers. Seized unions and bleed nipples have...

What colour shall I paint my defender!!?

Its all about the battleship grey mate. 5 litres off ebay is more than enough. Just a touch of thinners then slap it on with a roller. Can be done in a weekend. Granted mines a disco not a defender though!

    D1 boot floor repair

I've removed my fold down seats and put an original panel back in simply cos i got my hands on it for cheap but that was shear luck, i was going to do the chequer plate floor. From reading a few threads on here the boot floor panels are a bit flimsy / waffer thin and cost a lot for what they...

    D1 boot floor repair

It needs to be solid for the rear seats as well, the seat belt anchors pass through the boot floor and bolt to the brackets on the chassis. Chequer plate is still fine though.

    Sills, rot and the test....

If your in it for the long term i'd recommend getting a welder and doing it yourself. You've offset the cost of the welder by saving on labour charges plus you've learnt a new skill. I used 3mm thick 100x60 for mine. There's loads of info floating about on here if you do a search though.

    Enduro Runways

5x 245/75/16 Enduro Runways. 4 of them have 7 - 9mm left, the spare is un-used with full tread left. All on standard 7" wide modulars. £150 Collection preferred from S18 but i work in Liverpool midweek so getting them over there shouldn't be an issue. Cheers Ben

Thought i'd just bring this thread up to speed :) As usual things are taking far longer than i expected but oh well, im in it for the long run. Found a little hole at the rear of the car when i was doing the 2 inch body lift. Welded and painted Once the 2inch left was done the sills went...

    Disco 1 alarm conundrum

Disconnected the battery, plugged the siren back in then connected to the battery again. Alarm goes of straight away without the hazards flashing. Currently my alarm ECU is zip tied at an angle to the rest of the cables because the brackets have snapped. Not sure if this the problem but i...

    Disco 1 alarm conundrum

So over the past few months i've been welding away on my 1996 Disco 300tdi with the battery disconnected. Finished all the welding now so connected all the doors back up and went to connect the battery again. Soon as the wire touches the terminal the alarm sounds off. Tried using the fob (2...

Carry on from 'Project Big Blue'

Bit of an update. My longer bolts arrived so today i spent half the day undoing all the bolts required for the body lift. The dremmel with the flexi extension and a little wire wheel came in handy for cleaning the threads before i started undoing things, as well as some trusty plus gas :)...

Carry on from 'Project Big Blue'

So with the ****e weather putting a stop on things I have been forced to stay in and catch up on other things. I have realised that when tacking the body mounts to the sills i now have no way of getting it back off the truck so i can weld it properly before putting them back on and welding...

    chris's disco thread

Looking a good job that mate, i've not had to do the front on mine but learning from doing the boot and in the middle of doing the sills, things take longer than expected haha. Smart job though, nearly there!
