Door solenoid methinks. It's a common problem.

Never seen so much white smoke!

Blimey that's an expense I can do without. Well engine's not running away just been out and turned it over to make sure, it just idles but is very lumpy. So there's hope there I think. Smoke is definitely bluey white and stinks of diesel. Changed crank case breather to BMW vortex type a while...

Never seen so much white smoke!

Hmm, is there anything I can do to check if the turbo is playing up? There was a bit of a delay from pressing the accelerator that morning now you mention it, but it does drive now and seems to be as ok as it could be with no more lag. I thought the delayed response in the accelerator was down...

Never seen so much white smoke!

I thought I'd throw this one in here, I think I know what the answer is but it's always good to have other opinions especially if it might save me a few quid. I'm driving along the other day my Freelander starts to judder quite violently along with a large screeching from the rear right and then...

    MAF question(s)

That was my thought Diesel Do. Mine has done 98000, so it's quite possible MAF was on it's last legs anyhow, again may be coincidence like in Willo's case. Willo, it was your post re K&N I found on the search that got me thinking it may be the MAF. Can anyone confirm that if my factory...

    MAF question(s)

I've already replaced the two intercooler hoses for nice silicone ones from DPH. I hoped that would cure the issue, but it didn't. Am I right in thinking that by disconnecting the MAF and it making no difference to the performance, that it was already running on default, therefore proving that...

    MAF question(s)

Ok, so my TD4 has been running low on power for a while, and searching the forums, it would seemed that there was a possibility that I killed my MAF by fitting a K&N air filter. Everything was running fine, then 2000 miles after fitting the air filter there was a sudden drop in power, and now...

    Have I damaged my engine?

Hoses arrived today from DPH, well impressed with the rapid delivery. Having spent about an hour sniffing them :p , (they smell lovely!) I then fitted them. Found a very small hole in the long intercooler pipe where it rubs on the engine cover screw. Still hasn't solved my issue though. :( I'm...

    Have I damaged my engine?

Thanks for the replies so far. It sounds like it could potentially be any number of issues. I just ordered some new silcone hoses from DPH, so will fit these first, and take it from there. In the mean time I'll just keep adding Millers in the vain hope that it will clean up any injector issues...

    Have I damaged my engine?

To cut a not so long story a bit shorter. All was running fine but then got the occasional misfire, I discovered my air filter wasn't fitted properly so presumably the misfire was caused by bits of dirt/dead flies etc getting into the engine?? After discovering the air filter not fitted...

    Aftermarket window regulator

You can get a kit for about £12 off ebay, which just includes the cable and pulley assembly. They are a bit fiddly to fit (you need four hands!) , but the saving is worth the hassle if you ask me. Try this one for size

    noise on poor quality road

I had a similar issue. For me it was the drop links. Even though they looked fine, I replaced them along with the anti roll bar bushes and since has been absolutely fine. For the sake of £20 or so and half an hour it's probably worth doing anyway.

Part number for cruise control master on- off switch

Matacaibo; I got my hands on a second hand one, for the very reason that it wouldn't need re-programming. I've read through all cruise control threads on here several times, and it seems of the handful of people that got it working all used a secondhand unit. I got mine from eBay in the US. The...

Part number for cruise control master on- off switch

Gary, hats off to you sir! Got my hands on all the parts. Fitted them today and now have Cruise Control working. Hardest part was fitting the paddle switch onto the steering wheel as there was no hole where the switch should go. 1 hacksaw blade and two minutes later the switch fitted...

    TD4 Fitting cruise control

A relay is not what you need. Your after the cruise control ecu. Do a search for scb100211. Apparently it's best to get a second hand one out of a Freelander as then it's already programmed.

Part number for cruise control master on- off switch

Thanks for the advice re the lead and green plug. I've seen a few for sale without them. Though I'm quite handy with a soldering iron I'm hoping not to go down that route. Though looking at the price differences may be forced to. :( I managed to find a scb100211 from a 2002 td4 freelander...

just got my first td4 BUT few wee problems

Welcome, Not sure about torque test as I hacen't done it on mine. As for IRD it holds 1 litre of gear oil. The filler plug is top right of the IRD as you look at it from rear of the car. Make sure you can undo filler before you drain IRD as some users have reported filler plug seized and then...

Freelander Cruise control help needed please

I found my connector today. If it helps anyone it was nearer to the door than the centre of the car, and it was on a loom that was doubled back and cable tied up. :)

Part number for cruise control master on- off switch

Hey Gary, thanks for your reply, and for inspiring me to go down the cruse control retro fit route. I found this likely looking plug (see photo) under my seat this afternoon  So I've now dived in and just bought a master switch from ebay via the US for just under $15 including postage...
